 why would you say such a thing  ?

I don't know what his reasons are, but to me, Niels behaves like a kid too often, and he hasn't changed.

On the bike, he's a great rider, but off, he seems like an idiot to me.

Same. :D

Again a World Junior Champion who focused on the Worlds. I guess it's a lot easier to achieve that in Junior or U23 categories while in the elite categories, the best have body enough to be strong the whole season long AND strong in the Worlds. Mourey's strategy of focusing on the Worlds never prevails.

L. Sweeck is potentially a great pro.

Van der Haar is much nicer World Champion than Venturini. At least he races from September to February at the top.

World Cup winner, former GvA Trophy leader and Superprestige leader and the guy is still 19 !

At least there is hope for the future of Dutch cyclocross. It seems he'd rather focus on the cross because "Road is so boring" (couldn't agree more :p).

He was so funny in the interview. :D

Good thing Lars is still a popular name among new parents here, we'll be good in CX for the next 2 decades at least :D

So a bit of a report on the course ...

The Juniors had very icy and fast conditions (look at the lap times, they were faster than the U23), but the difference on the course in just 3 hours was huge.

For the U23 the top layer of ice melted a bit in the sun, 0 C temps and traffic from pre-riding. This lead to completely different race with less crashing, a bit more traction and more aggressive tires being needed.

I'm off to bed now as I'm at the course early to set up my rider, Gabby Day of Great Britian. Looking and thinking she should have a good ride tomorrow! :)

Thanks for the info. A frozen course might give Vos a slight edge, but if it's anything like the -23 race, Compton should be the one to take it.

Good luck to Gabby - and Helen - from the GB crossers!

Vos won!

She left Compton and Nash on the last hill grasping for air. Impressive!

What a beast... WC cx and now she's going to the track to qualify for the Olympics in 2012. When that's done it's time for the road again.... I got a lot of respect for her.

Agree. Since there ain't no dutch contenders my favourite will be Nys.
I'm not a cx specialist, but isn't this course more suited for riders like Albert and Stybar?

with the mud above the icy-layer it's ready-made for Sven :)

On a day like this I don't really think it differs that much. It won't be completely frozen, but it won't be all mud also.

German TV-directing has been horrible btw, really frustrating.
At that first hill they seem to wait 30secs every round.
They missed the decisive moment yesterday (Eijsing en vd Haar chasing down Theunnisen). Today they kept waiting for Kupfernagel. If they do they same with Walsleben later on this could be very annoying :)
