Fontana wasn't that big of a surprise for me anymore, not the first time he did this (Treviso? some world cups?)

Expected more of the French riders though (although Mouray's comeback was impressive)

Yup for Fontana. Always comes up when the Worlds are approaching. Good performance in Treviso.

He raced with the best in Zolder World Cup the following season and in Pont-Château this year but in both these races he crashed. :D

I can't stand the guy. Nowhere the whole season, and peaking for the Worlds.

Expecting anything from the French, what a weird idea. :D

But I'm glad you could vent your frustration.

disappointing w.e for Belgium cx fans.

Yes and no. It's disappointing if you're making a big deal of the Worlds but we still have the best riders overall. Stybar's win was expected but he hasn't won any rankings this year. We've had a lot of bad luck with the juniors while among the U23's, the best rider won. But only the pro race matters anyway.

The ride of the day for me was Johnathan Page. He was in the lead group and road so strong until a flat ... I then saw him make his way from a 30th position to the third group (going for 8th I think) ... that was a massive gap to close.

Jon is now a father. The daughter was born in the Sankt Wendel Hospital and her name is Pearl Wendel.

I can imagine the girl at school in a few years, explaining to classmates where her name comes from or how come she was born in Germany. :p
