Devolder in a reaction to not making the first 8 (and probably not going at all).
His reaction is exactly what I expected:
"Biggest humiliation in career"
"They're making themselves look ridiculous"
"Belgian cycling doesn't go much further than Boonen, Gilbert and me"
"Only Boonen has a bigger palmares"
From an egomaniac jackass like him, it's precisely what's to be expected.
I'm still laughing at him for this season.
In january he was saying his big goal was the Tour and he'd worked so much on his climbing to be ready. After the first mountain stage where he was nowhere to be seen, he was nonchalantly trying to convince the press that he hadn't prepared for it and the race was never a big goal for him.
A month later he was again telling the press he failed his big goal that was the Tour and he was ashamed of how badly he'd failed at it, bla bla.
You have to laugh at a guy like that
Also the Tour de Suisse last year comes to my mind. He attacks like a madman a few kms from the line but doesn't win because he went just a little bit too early. Then he has a smile on his face while telling the press that his DS had made him promise he'd only attack at a certain place, but he "was too anxious. couldn't wait. so attacked before that anyway".
Dumb as a brick
