I can't remember the poem, but the first line is "May you always walk in sunshine...."
A few versions exist;

May you always walk in sunshine. May you never want for more. May angels rest their wings right beside your door.

May you always walk in sunshine and God's love around you flow, for the happiness you gave us, no one will ever know, it broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, a part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

RIP Wouter

If there is to be any solace amidst this tragedy, the winner of today's stage is very appropriate.

I have pics of the aftermath if anyone is sick enough to want to see them. Tragic...

Maybe I'm not understanding you properly.

If you have to be "sick enough" to want to see these pictures of yours, then why offer them up in public for viewing? Why even advertise that you have them?

Look, you don't want to see those pictures and so don't I. Because that's our way to deal with it. Some will find it easier if they see and learn as much about the accident as they can. It might seem inappropriate to us but we shouldn't argue about it and we shouldn't judge anybody in their ways of dealing with such heavy stuff

because Wouter is dead
and we're all sad.

We should all take a step back, breath trought and think of him, his teammates, his friends, his family, his wife and his unborn child that will grow up without him.

For the record, I'm on this side.

That will do nicely. Thank you very much Benotti.

RIP Wouter. May God look after your wife and baby.

You were one of the best. Godbless

I have removed a few posts. There is a place and time for most things, This wasn't one of those occasions, and certainly not the place (for the offer made).

RIP Wouter.

I am so far away here in Australia, but all I can feel is shock at this tragic death.

My thoughts and sympathies go out to his family, friends and team-mates.

RIP Wouter. A sad situation. Feel a bit sorry for Cardoso.

Cardoso, Nordhaug, and anybody else who saw first hand. The EMTs and the Garmin team doctor, who left the car to assist.

Words don't seem very adequate.

Pray his family have the strength to cope through this terrible time. If there's any comfort it's that he wouldn't have suffered.

Cycling is dangerous. It can never be made totally safe. Even if it was I suspect a lot of those who compete would not love it so much. I'm sure there is no feeling of being more alive than hammering down a steep hill the way those guys do. This is very shocking cos it doesn't happen very often and we're used to seeing them walk away most of the time.

I am involved also in motorcycle road racing where things like this are unfortunately more common, though no less tragic. Two things are always said after a rider is killed. At the time it often seems trite but I believe them to be true. Firstly, they died doing what they loved. Secondly, they would want things to continue and not want the sport to be harmed in any way because of them.

RIP man

Rest in peace.
Descending in a tight race pack in pouring rain and hail this weekend, where brakes can't stop you and life is in the hands of your fellow competitors this thought occurred: I must really love this sport because it could end right now. Wouter knew it but his mind was no doubt clear of fear.

Life insurance...

Wouter Weylandt RIP.

Um, maybe this isn't appropriate for this thread, but do pro contracts include life insurance? I gather from this thread that he was to become a father. If so, Weylandt's partner is, as well as dealing with her grief, having to contemplate raising their child alone. I hope that, at least, any money worries are taken care of.

Tragic

Absolutely tragic. Gut wrenching.

We can all take inspiration from the energetic and positive way Wouter led his life. We can hounour him by remembering him.

Deepest sympathies to his family, friends, team-mates and colleagues.

Walter Planckaert, Topsport Vlaanderen: Wouter was the best friend of Fred Nolf, who died in his sleep during the Tour of Qatar in 2009. I had just now the father of Frederiek on the line. That man is really broken. These are two friends who really tragically died.

RIP to Wouter, and thoughts to his family, his friends, and that his child will grow up without a father. I hope his kid grows up knowing that his/her dad was a very good sprinter.
