For me the most important value for a dream-team in a GT is loyalty. To have one clear leader and 8 doms. Not saying that the doms can't go for stages, but their first priority should be as a dom. This means that I won't just pick the strongest helpers, but the most loyal of the strong helpers.

Albert Contador: Leader

Fabian Cancellara: Protects AC on the flats, and a huge asset in TTT

Tony Martin: Dom for the flat and TTT. Can also pull in the bottom of the final mountain, but will of course blow up quickly

Sergio Henao: Dom for the Mountains. Have showed great loyalty and consistency.

Nairo Quintana: Same as Henao, though even more a beast.

Paolo Tiralongo: Great dom in general and a great friend of Alberto.

Maxime Monfort: All-round dom.

Sergio Paulinho: All-round dom.

Ian Stannard: Flat dom.

This team. Though with Cavendish replacing Paulinho. Loyalty is all well and good, but I fancy a couple more stage wins

My team will forego the GC at the Tour in order to send GC riders to the Giro and Vuelta to maximise our chances of a GT win.

So, stage wins will be the order of the day. The focus will be on putting strong riders in the breaks every day and also contesting for sprint victories. I will divide my team into three sections, each with a different focus; flat stage sprint wins, rolling stage breakaway wins and mountain stage breakaway wins.

Flat stages:
Cavendish
Renshaw
Eisel

The world's best ever sprinter is supported by Renshaw back at leadout and the ever-faithful Bernie Eisel.

Rolling stages:
Cancellara
Chavanel
Flecha

Three hardmen to ride in the stronger breaks looking for a win after the first week is over, who will help the flat team bring in Cavendish on some stages.

Mountain stages:
De Gendt
Pinot
Cunego

Three riders who have all won mountain stages with long-range attacks. Speculative efforts and crossing the finish line near collapse are a must.

You guys do realize there are better riders out there than Wiggins and Froome right?

Than Wiggins I'm sure, but a better rider than a 100% peaked Froome? Only a few. If I want to be serious then I should include him. In a team without Contador he could be a serious contender.

Contador - GC
Basso - Road captain/ mountain domestique
Rogers - mountain domestique
Porte - mountain domestique
Cancellara - TT flat domestique
Voigt - flat domestique and general all-round legend.
Stannard - general domestique
Eisel - Cav's right hand man
Cavendish - Sprinter

(All riders in their prime)

Directeur sportif: Rudy Pevenage

GC Rider: Jan Ullrich

"Free Joker Rider": Alexandre Vinokourov (Basically he can do whatever he feels like, attacking, go for stages, or GC, or everything)

Classic/Hills stage type rider: Matthias Kessler (Also a good helper in the mountains and a decent TTTler, too)

Mountain Helpers: Patrick Sinkewitz (Decent TTTler and flatstage rider, too)
Jörg Jacksche (Decent TTTler and flat stage rider, too)

Allround Helpers: Tony Martin (Superb in TTes, too, of course)
Jens Heppner (A very loyal helper who is useful
in all terrains)
Steffen Weseman (Particularly helpful if there should be
cobles, can support Zabel in finishes)

Sprinter: Erik Zabel: He can go for both stage wins, as well as the green
jersey, doesn't need a train and is very good in the
mountains for a sprinter.

Where in the hell is Andreas Kloden?

:D

Antón - leader
Pozzovivo - 2nd in command/co-leader
Rujano - free hand, help in TTTs, break the wind for the leader
Quintana - mountain super-dom
Niemiec - lower slope domestique
Andre Cardoso - lower slope domestique
Txurruka - breakaway king
Pirazzi - even more of a breakaway king
Atapuma - to add more Colombians to the mix

DSes: Lucho Herrera, Jacky Durand and Alexander Vinokourov

I think this is a perfect selection of domestiques to support an all-out attack on the general classification. The team will also dominate if there's a TTT.

Alejandro Valverde (undisputed leader)

Supporting cast:
Vicente Garcia Acosta (loyal and experienced domestique for the flats)
Vladimir Karpets (huge frame to hide behind, can set a strong tempo both on the flat and uphill)
Leonardo Piepoli (luxury mountain domestique, can keep up with anyone in the high mountains)
Luis Leon Sanchez (great all-rounder and a genious at reading races, can go in the odd breakaway)
David Arroyo (loyal domestique, second-to-last defence line in the mountains)
José Iván Gutierrez (all-round domestique, will be great for a TTT)
José Joaquin Rojas (sprinting alibi, Alejandro's roommate and close friend)
Juan Antonio Flecha (road captain, tireless pacesetter on the flat and good in the hills)

You do know Niemiec and Pirazzi are over 170cm?

Also, no way would Anton ever be leader in that team.

Love it! That team doesn't even need a leader, just sit back and watch the attacks fly :) Just hope that the wind doesn't pick up...

My 9:

Pantani
Mayo
Vino
Voigt
LL Sanchez
Durand
Machado (before Radioshack)
Txurruka
Voeckler

If the Sky train turns up again next year Bertie won't even need a team. He just has to sit on Wigan's wheel and wait for Froome to open a gap then ride away :D

Floyd Landis (outright leader)
Samuel Sanchez (secondary leader)
Iban Mayo (climber)
Oscar Sevilla (climber)
Juan Jose Cobo (climber/breakaways)
Serhiy Honchar (flat domestique)
Ramunas Navardauskas (flat domestique)
Edvald Boasson Hagen (sprinter/domestique)
Thomas Voeckler (breakaways)

Michele Ferrari (team "physiologist")
