Should the grupetto have been DQ'd on Stage 15?

I think because it's a race that's partially about endurance. Not just for team leaders but for the support teammates as well. It requires teams to think about how they want to expend the energy of their team. If a team like Sky (for example) could have riders like Poels or Landa finish 2 or...

Froome stays in yellow, the right decision?

I'm still waiting but I don't reckon there will be any complaints about this decision from any teams or riders. Mollema seemed the only one interviewed who thought there should be no adjustment but it's possible that was a little self serving. Even Yates said the jersey belonged to Froome. In...

Teams & Riders Nairo Quintana discussion thread

Quintana hasn't beaten Froome in any meaningful way in any stage of any Tour de France they've raced against each other. There's this crazy narrative that Quintana is in some way assured to be much stronger in the third week and can just kind of follow Froome until stage 20 where he'll blow him...

    Tejay Van Garderen Discussion Thread

Re: Agreed. Porte's absolute peak is still better than TJ is capable of. Plus it's not like they'll be required to help each other that much. The strategy for BMC has always been to sit back and let SKY/Movistar/Astana set pace and just hope to be up there with the best when the Mountains...

    Richie Porte Discussion Thread.

Communication is such a tricky thing with 5km left in the stage. We know Sagan wasn't even aware the break had all been caught and he was riding for victory. I think ultimately this just comes down to having too many leaders for BMC. Looking after Porte and TJ for overall while trying to pull...

Why Alberto Contador is Cycling's One True Champion

The thing is the OP isn't even related to doping per se. More as Alberto Contador standing up to the UCI and Armstrong and a crony cycling hegemony. So I won't argue the doping points as they're not really the major thrust of this argument. The primary point of the OP is I think in these 2...

    100th Ronde Van Vlaanderen - April 3rd, 2016 - 255.9k

Called Kwia's attack annoying, also said he still thought he'd catch Sagan on the flat to the finish referencing Sagan's general lack of strength at the end of long races. Sounds like he just underestimated the move and Sagan in general. Also 4 hours of sleep the night before a race like this...

    100th Ronde Van Vlaanderen - April 3rd, 2016 - 255.9k

Re: Re: I don't think he thought Sagan would be that strong. His tactics weren't terrible, Sagan and co. went very early. Sagan ended up doing the lion's share of the work for 40+km. I think Devolder fading accompanied by no other teams helping (Either because they wanted to wear down Canc...

    Vélo d'Or 2015

Re: Re: I was also curious. Apparently he was the first rider to win the Yellow and Polka Dot at the TDF in the same year since 1970...which would place it at nearly 50 years I guess. That's all I could find.

    Tejay Van Garderen Discussion Thread

Not sure to be honest. This will be the first time he's ridden two GTs in one year. I'm a Tejay fan so I hope he'll do well. He didn't have the worst showing today, only losing a dozen or so seconds to Froome. My gut feeling is he probably won't have the best tour, because his body isn't...

    Nibali's sticky bottle

    Nibali's sticky bottle

I doubt he thought much about it then or now. He was doing something he's done before, other riders have done before, and something other riders after him will do again. We joke about sticky bottles all the time because they happen all the time. What he probably wasn't counting on was... 1...

    Nibali's sticky bottle

Re: Re: Wait, what? That group was literally riding on his wheel while Nibali went full out for 15 seconds. The team car passed those riders and grabbed Nibali, creating the separation from the second rider and leaving him (and the group) in the dust. Sure those might not have been GT...

    Nibali's sticky bottle

I think the imagery of him accelerating away from a pack of riders who were in the same situation as he was was the nail in the coffin. Most times sticky bottles happen a rider is isolated due to crash/mechanical and we don't see this so blatantly. As to tarnishing his reputation I doubt it...

    Richie Porte Discussion Thread.

Re: I'm pretty sure that's because when they all lined up in the beginning in the same formation Richie almost took Froome out with his god awful bike handling. I wouldn't have wanted to have him beside me the next time either. Bright side though he was the first mentioned when Froome...
