So this is a race for 6 riders and the commentators just go on and on and on and on and on about a certain little Belgian boy all the way to the finish. Hoping he attacks soon so we can get all the ejaculations out of the way. Nice weather by the way!

Like him or not he's box office. If he wins there's a story. If he messes up there's still a story. And there's nearly always a story when he races because he attacks.

They aren't even deep in the mountains, you'd think they're having to fight against a massive hailstorm deep in Siberia but this is basically a bit of rain in a suburb of Milan.

Yeah, the coverage is a joke. I get that having a helicopter flying around in the high mountains with bad weather can be dangerous, but this is something else...
RCS also is a bit to blame, they keep offering RAI only one year contracts so the later don't have the security to get green lights when it comes to investing more money into their broadcasting infrastructure.
Another thing is Airports not allowing helicopters to take off when there's more than a light breeze because nobody wants to be legally responsable if something happens, that's Italy for you...

This goes two ways, though: if you're RCS, you don't want to commit to shoddy coverage in the long-term.
