Cry. You should be rejoicing at the greatest season you will ever experience for yourself.
For ACF, perhaps, but I'm not getting the whole "greatest season of cycling" spiel. So many major races were huge letdowns that I can't agree with it at all.

Cadel won the Tour and Gilbert won the classics. That would be like for you if Txurruka won the Tour and Ruben Plaza won the classics.

Point taken. Harmon's Cuddles fanboying can be pretty unbearable.

I agree that Zaugg won it fair and square, but I don't rate him nearly at the same level as Van Summeren or Goss. Not until today anyway.

In my opinion that makes his win even bigger.
Goss was a semi-favourite in MSR, Vansummeren was someone you wouldn't dismiss entirely for Roubaix.
Zaugg was as much of an outsider as they get, but he rode a good race. Staying in the peloton, he of course profited from Nibali's attack - nothing happened until Nibali had been caught. And on Villa Vergano, he attacked at the best moment, just after Basso had brought everybody to the brink of cracking.

Well raced, and won.
In my opinion this win is more deserved than Nuyens' win in the Ronde.

I think he got a top-10 on the Zoncolan once. That in itself betrays some quality. But that's also the only time I remember seeing him (apart from doing domestique work, obv)

It's either those guys, or mr. "everyone except the Belgians is suspect" Wuyts. The choice is easy.

And Anglirú (8th there, 2008). He was 11th in the Vuelta that year too.

He was pretty strong at the Vuelta until he abandoned, too. He's obviously a good rider and always was a good climber, but still, this leaves me a bit cold. I'm like, "you better keep it up in the future, son. Don't you dare become a one-hit wonder. Don't be a Colombo."

Well said, agreed with the lot.

He was free/protected today. A win like this helps a lot but there are no guarantees that he won't be lower down the food chain next year.

A great win even with a dodgy TT position on the flat run in.
Anyway good to see Rogers showing some form, though all the other Sky riders dropped off.

Dan Martin rode very clever again but not enough this time.

And that's why it leaves me cold. He's more likely to be a one-hit wonder, an oddity in the palmares.

Patience. They finished only 15 minutes or so ago.

Don't know if already considered earlier on this thread but someone to tell me why the Sky chased Nibali?

If you're not sure of your leader, boys, it has no point chasing a breakaway. Your stupidity destroyed what could have been one of the greatest epic in modern cycling. Well done !

Big congratulations to Zaugg who should be the role model for any aspiring domestique - quiet, humble, always hard working. 6th podium for LEOPARD TREK in their 5th monument. Too bad it's their last!

And this is why the result kinda makes me happy since if that was his only chance to ride as a leader in a monument he made the most of it.
