Liggett and Sherwin lost it a few years ago - they are a sad parody of themselves these days. I'll stick with David Harman and the brilliant Sean Kelly on Eurosport.

Ideally, I'd combine ITV's presenting team (Gary Imlach, Ned Boulting and Chris Boardman) with Eurosport's commentators.

If I had my choice I'd go with Matt Keenan and Magnus Backstedt. They would be able to identify riders and give us real insight into the race.

I totally agree! I used to love Phil and Paul but, like all commentators after such a long time, they have lost the plot. My Dad found it amusing that they tipped everyone in the prologue as a possible winner or contender!

It wasn't a prologue. Stones, glass houses and all that. :D

Phil Liggett has started like a man reposessed.

"Once they get over the top of the hill, its all down hill untill the next climb which is up hill"

I want to have his baby.:)

yeah i don;t think anyone dislikes phil liggets method of entertaining us :D him and paul make an epic team.

They, along with Bobke(in spite of his one man Lance fan club) add lots to the TdF. Wish there was more racing, less 'a day in the life' stuff but remember they are broadcasting to the USA, not exactly a cycle racing centered country.

I think yesterday was great, good to see LA be number #4 of 4 guys on Astana.

I'm starting to feel like I know more about cycling than Phil and Paul do.

But I can't figure out if that's good or bad.

Gold! How many times did Paul say "principality" yesterday? Phil - he's just got to grit his teeth, and hang on..... I'm also wating for Paul to cr@p on about his special formula he uses to work out how long it will take the main field to catch the breakaway.

Not a liggettism because sherwin does it too, but the most annoying thing I find about their commentary is when one guy repeats something immediately after the other has said it. And it took a very short time to happen this TDF when Martin's intermediate time came through and Paul Sherwin mentioned it and the chance of him making the fastest time... then Liggett comes in screaming about Martin being fastest at that point..

I worked out they're like the heads in jars in futurama, both are in sensory deprivation booths with just a tv screen and when it comes on they instinctively start commentating with no reference to anything.

Andreu is good when the smack goes down, but very average for filler time, which is 90% of the race. Keenan live by himself, is tough, because he never takes a breath, and tries to give you everything, because the guy is a walking encyclopaedia. He needs to get to see the action when the smack goes down, and let there be a little free time, and interpolate for more poignancy. In Aus he does the piano tranquillo parts of the stage, before Liggett and Sherwen come thru with their feed, which is sending me bonkers.

I would like to see an Andreu Keenan pairing.

Sometimes he sounds more like the commentator for gay porn movies than for professional cycling.

I cannot tell whether she is talking about Phil or Jack. It sounds like Jack.

I have the guy on ignore, but I can see the quote in your post and have to say that what is meant by "jackhammer's girlfriend" is that he was typing with his right hand.

I don't have any idea what you just wrote, but regardless, you suck.

Man I love the "ignore" function. I don't have to read any of your inane, ill-informed opinions. This is just too much fun.

I think in general europeans are less apt to connect physical descriptions of humans with sex. The same goes with nudity. Nudity doesn't mean sexual.

lighten up.. i know what you are saying and there's no homophobia here.
It just sounds oddly twisted sometimes coming from his British manner.

I just got this as a visitor post from jackhammer:

"family is out of bounds. I will find out who you are. count on it. starting now you'd better be looking over your shoulder. I told you it was smart to mess with people you don't know. I have the time and resourses for this. If you had any respect for your own family, you'd never dream to **** with mine.
You just brought down the wrath of justice on your stupid a$$."

He also wrote this: "and i with my left hand i was pushing your wifes face down my shaft, you spinless fuck."

Wow, a real tough guy.

I think he has been banned. I tried to click on his name to look at his profile and you can't. It now lists him as a "guest." Maybe he has gone underground? I have to say that this is my first internet death threat.

Well yea, considering that he is angry I talked about his "family" when my reference was his "hand" being his "girlfriend." Now, I am not sure which one of those is "family," but if it is the latter, I may have something to worry about......

Wow, a real tough guy.

That guy had issues. He seemed to be dangerously unstable.

It is a freaking forum. People should not take things so seriously.

Hey, I have "issues" but you don't see me going round threatening people's families.....

Anyway, it seems that they have banned him or something. He is MIA.

Oh well, I know where he lives and I think his name is on here somewhere, so maybe I will give him a call? I'll bet in person he is a really sweet guy.......

boys, boys, boys...I really hope you weren't serious. I don't believe I've invited you to my home. I'm the girlfriend, I have 2 lovely hands among other things of my own and a generally sweet disposition. Playing nice might be a better option than poking people with your tiny little sticks...and yes, in person he is a really sweet guy.
