boys, boys, boys...I really hope you weren't serious. I don't believe I've invited you to my home. I'm the girlfriend, I have 2 lovely hands among other things of my own and a generally sweet disposition. Playing nice might be a better option than poking people with your tiny little sticks...and yes, in person he is a really sweet guy.

No, he invited me there without your consent I assume. Either way, he has some serious issues and threatening me and my family might seem innocent to you, but it is indicative of mental issues that need some looking into. Tell him to feel free however to continue his little threat. I know who he is. Also note that I am not the one threatening anyone, he is, and you need to ask him how serious he is because if you read his friendly little message, it is pretty clear what he plans to do.

In spite of all of that, internet tough guys are a funny lot. Let him know I am sleeping easy.

I read the message and while it was harsh and ill considered, I do not believe he threatened your family. He did question your level of respect for your family. I feel honored that he thinks of me as family.

Yes, indeed, internet tough guys are a funny lot. I've been reading over his shoulder for a while and I don't think he's the only "tough guy" who posts on here.

I don't play flame wars because I don't believe in flinging insults at cyber figments of my imagination. I will say that there is something reassuring about someone who takes my reputation so seriously (if a little too vigorously on occasion).

Anyway - play on boys.

We can carry this on in PM. I am pretty sure everyone here would rather not be party the kind of stupidity he demonstrated tonight.

I'd enjoy Sean Kelly a lot more if he spoke English ;)

Ha! I laughed outloud reading this...

As I mentioned on the Favorite Cycling Commentators thread, it honestly takes me 10-15 minutes of listening to Sean Kelly before I can begin to figure out what he is saying....

After that, I find his commentary to be fascinating if draining what with all the concentration required....

With regard to Phil and Paul, I actually am quite comfortable with them. I find myself automatically correcting their mistakes, and some of them can be quite comical. I liked how Phil couldn't decide if Cancellara was a teammate of Carlos Sastre or not...

@Thoughtforfood... I saw no "death threat"? or has it been edited out?

just that its a big call to accuse someone of such a serious threat regardless of "interpretation".

and BTW ppl for those that did not know Phil does 3 to 4 simultaneous and seperate commentaries for both TV and radio.

I have seen video of him in the "booth" and although I do not like his comentating it is pretty impressive to see the multitasking.

It does not excuse the mistakes etc.

The word "hyperbole" comes to mind.

I think he has been banned. I tried to click on his name to look at his profile and you can't. It now lists him as a "guest." Maybe he has gone underground? I have to say that this is my first internet death threat.

Yeah, I'd guess he's been banned. I was wondering what it took around here. I appreciate the general hands-off moderating, but still ...

Great, I guess I'll get a "special" personal message now too.

Thought guy, I take it you have not seen him doing the broadcasts on the documentary about his history and the Tour... it is no "exaggeration" (hyperbole).
... or were you referring to your claim of death threats?

LOL. America does internet tough like nowhere else :D

Now, back on track the Ligget / Sherwin Muppet Show does get tiresome, by the third week im throwing shoes at the TV......I'll echo some previous comments on Matt Keenan, he has a lot of potential and runs rings around the Muppets for knowing whats going on, and actually enlightening the audience however he needs an offsider to add some levity.

im just glad we have eurosport.. i cant tolerate either of them..

at least on eurosport yesterday we only had to cope with the concept that Jens Voigt was a stoned alien who had landed on earth and thought everything was beautiful.. (something to that effect)

(and 375 certaintly's)

Yes,well, certainly harmon and kelly are a good combo but we still had both magnus and brian smith (the expert pundits) insisting that cav will not get green in paris because he had never finished a GT including the giro last year!

Then again we could have the legend that is duffield of "its curtains for Karpets!" (by the way!) fame.

Better to do 1 job right than three half-ast.

I personally turn on France 2 even though I do not unserstand French. The pictures do the talking and I know a few key words (at least they can say the names of the towns and the passes correctly :) and the names sound the same.

There's something 'correct' about watching the TDF in French.

No, really?

Watching stage 4- did he just call the Astana guys "fancy legs" or is all that acid in the 80's coming back to haunt me?

@ marinoni, yes i beleive he did.

there were a number of moments on the AU SBS Coverage where Liggett seemed to lose his mind......its on quite late here so you have to question whether you actually heard what you think you heard, but last night even the good lady exclaimed "what the fark did he just say" at least 2-3 times :D

In other news Matt Keenan on SBS is getting better, much better.

He does need to learn how to pronounce Luis (as in Luis Leon Sanchez) though. It is not pronounced like "Louie".
Keenan is very good but he does butcher names. He's another one with the "Jens Voyt" syndrome. That drives me crazy.

Sherwen keeps referring to Armstrong's "dark helmet" which makes me laugh.
