Paul was talking about someone reaching into their suitcase of courage....usually this doesn't come out till the mountains...I nearly peed my pants laughing...I just wasn't expecting it yet.

the muppets are only getting better with age, couple liggetts evident early stage dementia with their slowed metabolism of the lunch time vino ( due to age ) and we have a sure fire recipe for commentating gold.

With Big Lance about to dance on the pedals and go into the red zone on Friday I dare say the muppets will be slipping off their seats with excitement

I recorded the stage, havent watched yet, but I will be listening intently for it! Bring on the Moutains.

"Hes riding that bike like a sprocket heading for the moon, which is not a place, its a planet, and hes riding to that star...."

Phil Ligget, 2000 TDF re LA.

I honestly think each stage should have one of those warnings like on tv shows or movies:

This commentary may contain

(SF) Some facts
(LOGALA) Lots of gushing about Lance Armstrong
(TOMTTSTFS) Two old men that talk s h i t e to fill space

Don't complain until you've experienced the idiot Duffield.

At least Ligget has been a cyclist, speaks cyclist speak, understands team tactics, politics, and the goings on in the peloton, and makes an attempt to speak about these things in an adult manner.

Duffield used to spout completely unrelated crap in a vain and rather pathetic attempt to garner interest from channel-hopping viewers of daytime TV.

He was fskcing AWFUL.

Sorry for this brief off-topic interjection.

There are similar issues in the Dutch speaking world, where people (on the whole) feel that the Belgian commentators are more sensible and informed, while the Dutch commentators are less so. I know of plenty of cloggies who choose to watch the Belgian broadcasts for that reason.

You pays your money and you takes your choice. ;)

I'm starting to feel like I know more about cycling than Phil and Paul do.

But I can't figure out if that's good or bad.

That's good. You'll enjoy being able to predict the tactics of the teams and watching them unfold. Let those who need to be spoon fed everything that happens find a commentator to school them. Phil's historical knowledge of cycling is priceless if your a true fan. Paul's ability to draw the line between media and journalism and make it entertaining at the same time is a good thing. I usually know whats going on in the race, but never know whats going on in Phil's head and whats going to come out of his mouth next.

Stage 10 should see "the heads of state" "go mano o mano" while "turning a wheel in anger"
Last night Stuart O'grady was going to lead out Thor Hushovd.
I've noticed that Paul likes "completely and utterly". It appears that everything was completely and utterly something last night.
They're a bit like an old jumper that's tired and worn out and should really be thrown out but your kind of used to it so you still enjoy wearing it.
Well the coverage has just started so time to go and slip into that old jumper and have a laugh!;)

I saw that too. When he said it, my wife looked over at me as if to say "seriously", and then I just lost it.

I don't have any idea what you just wrote, but regardless, you suck.

Man I love the "ignore" function. I don't have to read any of your inane, ill-informed opinions. This is just too much fun.

I find it funny how this guy "ignores" everybody who doesn't agree with him. Somebody have a bad childhood?

I predict somebody lives a very pathetic life... and that statement can be backed up simply by looking at his post count. Although, I wouldn't call what this guy has a "life".

As my adopted home for a year, I've been keeping an eye on Canada's only rider in the race, Ryder Hesjedal.

Or as Phil referred to him in the team time trial, Heyder Ryjedal.

At least Sherwen hasn't felt the need to inform us that the leader is 'at the head of the bike race' yet. Thanks Paul, we had wondered what sport it was
Give it time, though.
