Indeed, Isso wrongly assumed Bos would ride the Giro. In every interview Bos had pre-season and during the season, he said that he would ride the Vuelta and never talked about the Giro.

I would have thought that Hushovd was riding the Vuelta as preparation for Worlds. Guess that might still happen but then Bos might not get free reins for the Vuelta.

I'm interested to see if Team Sky can manage to rival Columbia and Greipel in any of the sprints. They have a fairly good leadout train in the Giro with Hayman and Sutton leading out Henderson and with guys like Wiggins and Barry to take some of the later turns as well if they want to do a long lead out.

Cadels quote of the week:

"It's very steep. If you don't have the legs then it will be a disaster here," Evans said after riding up the snow-lined road. "Scared? No, I like it. I found it beautiful."

or maybe FP's

"Cadel Evans took off after three kilometres. Just like that. A man solo and in charge," Franco Pellizotti told Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Oh some of you guys so don't like the Wig man (pas de probleme avec moi;)). But get your money on Pellezoti for the Giro, you will get good odds:)

I don't have any problem with him, i just can't see him picking up top 10 without actually riding for it, which i don't think he will when he realises he can't do top 6-7ish positions.

I get the impression that Evans may win on plan de corones by quite a lot actually, he showed great form on the admittedly short but steep muur de Huy and being an x mountainbiker grip and technique on the gravel will surely be far more natural for him than anyone else

What climb are you looking forward to most?

the pics of the plan de corones made me pretty excited. it seems a pretty awesome climb with the road but on steepness and length definetly the mortirolo. should try to get the new ride mag as it has a giro preview.

Already read it :p

Same as you, split between Plan de Corones and Mortirolo.

There is not that much to the preview. Just an overview of each stage + what Marco Pinotti thinks will happen, who it is suited to etc. And yes before you ask Pinotti is tipping Evans for the Giro victory:D

yes but it gave an overview of the stage and some little chracteristics of each stage. usually we get nothing. i am happy with it.

I like this description of Plan de Corones (from the Cycle Sport Giro supplement):

'A compact chainset will be de rigeur again - along with sections of 20 and 24 per cent gradient, there is even a 5-kilometre stretch of gravel road. The gradient rarely relents, as the climb treads a fine line between mad spectacle and enthralling viewing.'.

And accompanied with a picture of a madly grimacing Contador on the climb from 2008. Pellizotti won the stage.

The Mortirolo is unrelenting for it's entire length. Zoncolan has a couple of very brief respites, but has sections that are virtually unclimbable, if it's very wet.
The last km of Corones took almost 4 minutes to climb, during the 2008 ITT.
Then, there's always the chance of snow.

Which reminds me, don't forget the Gavia.........
......the decent of which could prove interesting.....
