I think the Giro is the most beautiful Grand Tour, and with the most frightening mountains.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Giro - I love all the GTs. The Giro just isn't my favorite of the three.

and the outcome less assured.

Actually, I've always thought the outcome was the least predictable at The Vuelta.

Cervélo make the point that Bos will get freedom and 1 or 2 teammates to help him at the Giro.

Then he doesn't get selected. What gives?

Probably sacrificed that when they realised Sastre wasn't in good enough form so would need maximum assistance?

Shouldn't it be the other way around? Sastre's not tip top, so we need someone else to stop up with another dimension, such as stage wins?

You're right. I forgot we're dealing with Sastre, not a raving egotist who needs a whole team to preserve his position here.

Bos was never going to do the Giro. He's aiming for the Vuelta.

Indeed, Isso wrongly assumed Bos would ride the Giro. In every interview Bos had pre-season and during the season, he said that he would ride the Vuelta and never talked about the Giro.

Vroomen himself said it. I didn't assume anything

Well Van Poppel (ds) and Bos himself, said differently from the start of the season. And Dutch press same. Only read about Vuelta.

Maybe some translator f.cked up?

Evans or Vinokourov.
Maybe Wiggins as a dark horse?

The course is not exactly suited for Wigans. Little time trialing. Really steep climbs. No geezer to tell the strongest rider to slow the overall pace of the climbing.

Wigans will finish 8th-20th. He's got not chance of doing well in the Giro and being able to back it up in July. He will try and win the prologue, and take it relatively easy after that.

It doesn't matter if you're Eddy Merckx or Fausto Coppi. No one takes it "relatively easy" and finishes 8th-20th.

He'll do what he said he's been doing. Go for the first and last stages, and roll around in the autobus the rest of the time.

Relative to his peak TdF form.

Evans is in good form. He put a minute into Pellizotti and Scarponi and 2 into Simoni when they all did some recon together up the Zoncolan and Plan de Corones.

Although the article does not specifically say which climb it was, it just makes references that they were all out doing recon and that Evans put a minute inot them.

Hopefully Cadel can do that when it counts.

I am surprised they did that. thanks for the link! rivals going at it. I think some mind games and some eyeing off each others form was happening. Personally if i were evans I would not want to go too hard and maybe let one of them beat me.

But i guess the flip side to this is any one of them could have been sandbagging? We will never know i guess?
