what was she talking about?

she was talking about McQuaid's opposition to minimum wages for female pros. unfortunately, McQuaid was right - if you apply a minimum wage, it will simply turn sponsors away from female cycling. her idea that sponsors will just reason "duh.. it says i now have to pay you all double, so i guess i'll just write the cheques out" is naive.

He's more than that. Riding in Europe for AIS this year?

He's incredible.

He's only 17 which makes him second year U19 so he's to young for the AIS squad at the moment. He's going for junior worlds on the track and road this year then might do a stint in France again after junior track worlds

Oh yeh, this new year thing is confusing me, thought he was 18.

it is quite funny seeing green edge unable to win a domestic crit considering the australian national champs which is one of their more important goals is less than a week away

fingers crossed they are all hype there too

I wonder who were the 4 riders in the lead group for GE because considering how many top sprinters they have in this race Alby doesn't seem your first candidate to lead the sprint out for.

It's a domestic crit on the 2nd of Jan FFS? Seriously don't think there'll be much concern in the Greenedge camp.

I for one am hoping that they live up to the hype.

Ewan is headed for Greenedge colours anyhow.. Watched him on the track earlier in the year.. Serious talent.

I watched Ewan at the Cronulla criterium. His sprint was good. He is very talented and seems to have good endurance.

Hosking is right about Mcquaid.
Nice win by Hendo ( he could have in his prime won stages at the TDF if given the opportunity )

Only half the GE riders are riding in the Bay Series and how do you draw any form from 2 x 1 hour sprints to a tough one day race. Maybe the tougher Portarlington race tomorrow will show some form guides.
Although in saying that I have been saying that Davis will have a turnaround in form from his unsupported years at Astana and could surprise the Davis knockers this year. Interested to see how he goes tomorrow.
Plenty of good riders facing the GE riders in the Nationals next weekend, no lay down misere for them.

Would be interested to see who everyone thinks might take out the National Championship, would love to know who GE are going to protect.
I don't know if he has the form or GE want him to have a go but my pick is Simon Clarke.

I think they want Gerrans or Stu in the jersey - The ´blokes club captains

You could see O'Grady really wanting this in what could be his last or one of his last years. Would look great to have one of the big leaders at GE wearing it and possibly being a contender at some of the big one day races.

Good grief, some of the posts on this thread.....

There seems to be direct parallels between January cycling fans in Australia, and July cycling fans in Europe.
