Read my post, he got held up and his bike was broke. I think 3 km rule is being enforced, was the same with VDB2 in the Dauphine

I certainly hope so. I was so happy to see him in the first group and then another fall... pfff

If he changed his bike, he won't show up in the classification.

The question is how serious the ASO takes this rule:

Falls in the last three kilometres

As has been the case since 2005, riders involved in a fall in the last three kilometres of a stage are given the same finishing time as the group which they belonged to. This rule is not applicable in time-trial stages and stages that finish at the summit of a climb.

This was a cat4 climb. If they are literal, Gesink gets the real time, and his bike was broken so that would be minutes....

asif one of his team mates don't get off the bike tho

Someone ****ing call Prudehome. They are going on about some useless crap like Gilbert winning a stage or Evans 2nd when the only thing that matters is whether the 3k rule is in place or not.

Today's stage was a 45 point sprint stage. This means by ASO rules it's a flat finish even though it finished on a climb. My guess is that there will be a 3km rule but I'm not willing to make any bets on it though.

from the gc guys: Evans, F.Schleck, Roche, VDB, Kloden, Horner, Martin, Cunego and Vino in front group

Probably may have realized Andy was in his group and didn't worry too much. Or thinking that he can't burn too many matches since he has climbs in weeks 2 and 3 to get time back. Or it's what you said.

The 3 km rule holds in this stage

From the rule book about the 3km rule:

This measure does not apply to:
• finishes of the 2nd stage, which is a team
time trial and of the 20th stage which is an
individual time trial;
• summit finishes of the 4th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 18th
and 19th stages.

This is an uphill finish, but it is considered a flat stage. That means the 3km rule applies, so the favourites won't have to worry about mixing it up in the finale.

Unless they want to, of course.

what if gilbert and evans are on the same team. one hell of an hilly team.

I predicted Phil would drag his mate Cuddles to the line.

Well done Cuddles, you Champ!!!!

Btw apart from the actual time gaps that are obviously going to be involved here. Is it just me or did Contador seem sorta resigned to losing the time. It just didn't seem like the Contador of the Giro to me, might be pure coincidence of course but it still caught my eye.

I think he saw Schleck come to him and sat up, he'd put a minute on Evans in his sleep.

Well it seems that while Andy was there he still will get the 6 second time not Contador's 1 min 21 or so. That means Andy (and certainly Frank) will probably have a minute half by the mountains.

This is a very good point. That makes sense, I would be willing to bet on it. ;)

3k rule is in place.

Gesink finishes behind Samu but gets a 2 minute lead.

What a total joke.

omg andy that was like a damn good chance for you to gain time and you couldnt stay with your bro and leopard.

I _think_ he got held up (crashed?) in the second crash in the field which occured close to the finish.

Now, I don't know about the rules, but German Eurosport kept banging on about the 3k Rule which they thought was in effect today...

Did Andy get caught up in the spectator crash or in the 2 km crash?
Could be very important.
