Damn if only Gesink didn't fall in the final 3km

What do you mean. He gets a free minute on Contador and Samu. What do you see to complain about there?

Frank, not Andy. Andy was with Conti.

Ok, thanks. Hm, I guess this is not really a game-changer then, although ti gives Leopard a certain tactical advantage.

Uphill finishes cancel the 3km rule, I believe. Not sure if today counted as uphill though.

Oh thank god Andy wasn't in the front group. Just made me a bit happier.

Gesink was in the first group right?

What an epic start to the tour.

Chaos yes but just brilliant.

Evans wow, 100m more and who know?

He's really an Ardennes classic rider who can GC, kudos to him.

These time splits now will be VERY interesting.

Evans, VDV big winners of the GC guys.

I think, according to the strictest rules, that everyone who was caught behind the first crash should get the time they crossed the line with, but everyone caught behind the second should get the time of the group behind Gilbert/Evans. However, it's probably impossible to tell who was behind which crash, so the jury may just say 'forget it'.

Damn shame if so, I would have ****ing LOVED to see Contador lose a minute to Wiggins, Schleck, etc.

He wasnt in the group, but does the 3km rule count? It did in the Dauphine when VDB2 didnt lose time to the flat tire he had.

Was there a Radioshack or HTC-rider in the first group? I'll guess we will see one of them in yellow after the TTT..

EDIT: zomg, Tony Martin in yellow?!

It was a great finish. Cadel as always closing in the final moments like Fleche last year. Had Cancellara not forced Gilbert to go, could have been different.
