So th question is: How much of a threat is:

Evans,
Martin,
Horner,
Kloden,
Cunego,
VDB
Frank Scleck and
Vinokurov

?

They all gained 1+ on Contador and Andy Schleck.

I think he saw Schleck come to him and sat up, he'd put a minute on Evans in his sleep.
He also saw Mollema with him. There was no point in riding, really.

This measure does not apply to:
• finishes of the 2nd stage, which is a team
time trial and of the 20th stage which is an
individual time trial;
• summit finishes of the 4th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 18th
and 19th stages.

But how are they going to do that? They can't know who was in the first group and who wasn't. And they can't give the few ones that missed out for sure a different time. So it will be interesting to see what they end with. Maybe put everyone at 19 seconds?

This is a very good point. That makes sense, I would be willing to bet on it. ;)

And ofcourse there's the factor no-one has dared mention yet. If the 3km rule holds Schlecklet will take over a minute on Contador. Considering the current respective popularity of the two if it's a toss up that might swing their decision.

What a total joke.

No. The rule makes sense and you've got to draw the line somewhere. Not crashing is part of winning a GT too.

The King of Awesome strikes again :D:D:D

Listening to the post race interview his tactical acumen is so acute.

I only saw the last 2 kms - did Wiggo crash the first time or the second - and 3km rule applies?

1'14 lead. Not 2 minutes.

And it's not a joke, Gesink was in front.
The joke is the supporter who knocked half the peloton down.

Why is it a joke? Them's the rules. You have to draw the line somewhere, whether at 1, 3 or pi km it's going to be completely arbitrary. Tough luck. Don't be such a fanboy :p

Give me the location and date of your next ride and ill throw a spectator into you and then well see what your opinions about not crashing are.

I would say for Contador and Schleck the only ones that could be a true threat are Frank and Evans if they're on top form. Though both of them are question marks in my mind. Frank seemed like he was incredible before his crash last year and Evans seems to be better then he has been in a GT for about 2 years. But I think they will lose more then they have today, but it will make them a lot more dangerous in the high mountains.

it would be really really unfair if they get 0:06. like seriously.

You can't enforce it in this case because we don't know who was where at which point.

Well.. not according to the 3k rule.

I don't like time differences because of a crash anyways. Allthough AC losing time makes things more interesting. It's not the way it should happen though.

Alberto and Samu should know to be in the front.

Although, fans could target Alberto just as easily there. :p

Excellent finish. Gilbert is so strong, I thought Hushovd would take it at 300 m to go, but he was already cooked and Gilbert just never tires on these finishes. Great ride by Evans as well.

The TTT tomorrow should be interesting. Gilbert will surely only get one day in yellow after OPL's efforts today.
