Contador seemed very resigned. A bit worrying his body language. How did baby and gesink get that time? Cuddles should be pretty annoyed. I'm more and more impressed with geraint Thomas overtime I see him.

dont be so dramatic.

The next week will be chaotic. Chances are every rider might lose time at some point.

Samu's main goal is to podium anyway, this makes it harder, but there could be some benefits also.

Like free reign to go crazy on stage 17 descent

I really hope EE have the good sence to appeal to the commissars on this.

Offer a nuclear option as well.

The Tour is over for Samu at 1.20 + x>1 min ttt so they might as well threaten to withdraw or something.

I will translate it into Basque :p But I doubt anyone would pick up this news. In the officially licenced Tour preview magazine they mentioned Sanchez as one of the podium contenders together with all the others, but after that they forgot to give him the same patch of text with strong and weakpoints like all the others got. That ignorance is really ****ing me off.

You are right, but you don't know if he was trying to conserve energy which is a lot more important for a 3 week tour.

there was no time for conserving energy today after the crash. he will regret it if he loses the tour by a few seconds.

congrats :)

I have a couple bets which still could come through.

3 k rule in place, so bad for uran but is ok. betted the least on him anyway.

what is really pathetic though is guys like vanendert getting 6"because they clearly dropped and weren't involved in crash

This actually reminds me of 2009 when AC lost all of that time in the echelons. Only difference is that he's the ONLY real GC candidate caught out. Not sure where he really steals time on Andy. Maybe Stage 12. Tough way to lose time.

Why? they crashed inside the 3km mark. Rules are rules.

Can anyone confirm Bavarianrider's comment or is he/she dreaming?

We should all consider the source. He/she believes Tony can Top 10 (although to be fair Tony got a good start today.)

Just messing w/ you Bavarian :p

Kind of unfair that the guys in the first group who lost time in the final hill are awarded free time in the GC, while the guys who were dropped from the second group aren't as lucky. There's really no fair solution to this.

Can we officialy stop calling riders by stupid names like baby, Clentador and other stupid unfunny things that makes this forum look like a fool forum (which it probably is if you read clinic posts)?

There is a good solution and that's give everyone +6. The riders dropping now will drop anyway.

So what would be fair? Giving the second group the sam 6 seconds? But they made a mistake. How about giving them the 38 seconds or whatever it was they were behind the front group at the time of the seconds crash?

That would be the fairest approach but also unenforcable since pretty much nobody crossed the line at ca.38 secs. There can be no doubt that those chasing after the first crash would not have had their progress halted had the second crash not occurred, therefore they would be unlikely to have lost as much as they did. But ultimately, the rules are the rules, and though it's a little unfair, Contador and Samu lose 1'20" and that's the only logical result.

no no no!!!

this really does not make sense!

if the first crash group was further delayed by the second crash group (who are now only at +6), what about that extra time they lost because they were held up?

what about riders who got caught up in both crashes? or, should the first crash group have piled up with the second so they weren't penalised?

WTF?

this is all making my head spin! (and i admit i'm mostly upset because this was caused by a moronic spectator... they should be fined up the wazoo and then some )

no nothing, he was smiling and laughing at the interview.
Good news,

btw, Lucckyboy you little ****, I would never hope somebody lost a race because of a crash or a puncture. I take offence that you would think that especially being a victim of a nasty crash in a bike race that I would hope someone was hurt or lost time.
