frank schleck looks really good, way better than many expected.

Team is doing OK too (Zaugg and Bakelants in second group, Rohregger a little bit further back but crashed yesterday), only weakness is that he has no idea about the parcours, no recons, no altitude training... will be interesting to see how he can hold up once they hit the high mountains

There is a football thread for all football related discussions. I am saying this because some people hate to see spoilers in a thread where they would not expect it.

No more football comments here please.

Great win for Pozzovivo. Given how quickly he pulled a gap im surprised that no-one else had a go other than Intxausti. I know Pozzo was further back overall than some and quite a few guys would have been on their limit but still a bit surprised.

Yeh I mentioned him before, but can he realistically get a decent enough GC place...

I picked him in my fantasy team so I hope so.
But no really he is not a bad rider, top 10 might be a stretch well see. The 3rd week will be a whole different ball game. Traditionally pozzovivo is not great in gts, he is pretty small and pretty vulnerable to illness and what not.

I really hope he can sustain this form!

Top 15 with a support of the team I'd say.

No idea why everybody hyped Barta so much. Huzarski was 2nd behind in Settimana Coppi e Bartali and looked better on climbs than Barta. He's defitnely got a shot.

Pozzovivo was ridiculously good today. The final result doesn't come close to doing it justice. I think Contador would have struggled against that

I don't think there is much expectation, it's more of an interest thing. I'm interested to see how he can do with a free role. his numbers are up, clearly progressing as a rider, interest is normal.

I wasn't talking about you particularly nor did I at any point say that interest was not normal. I was watching the race on a live-stream where the chatbox was filled with nonsense about Slagter's GC ambitions. It just becomes fuel for Rabo-bashers to spew crap about later on.

I would say that a top 15 GC without impacting in any stages does not justify a wild card.

They may get a break away win but there are a lot of strong riders looking to get in break aways, so I think it is unlikely.

Difficult to say, since he wasn't there. With a finish like today's, Contador would have attacked if he had the legs. Which makes him an exceptional champion: his audacity, because he can lay it on the line like that at the end of the first week, while not being a Pozzovivo thinking of a stage win, but to establish the pecking order towards overall victory.

At any rate, what I thus didn't like about the other Bigs today is that they all were racing with their minds on the last week. Sure, it's tactically correct, but spineless.

Ryder was only "in trouble" because he had to chase back to the front after the mechanical. Pretty sure that took a bit out of him so no reason to fret just yet.

wasn't it Stetina who had the mechanical?
