I never really saw where henao and gadret got caught again in/after the downhill. I thought it was a pretty good move, but apparently they didn't stay away in the descent.

They were caught at the foot of the last ramp, they had a good gap but it melted away rapidly with Katusha riding behind.

Right at the foot of the second climb. And I thought it was Uran, was it actually Henao?

This is possibly the best Polish performance in years. Niemiec at Lombardia was great but Huzarski flying away from Basso, Scarponi, Cunego,(3 gt winners) Frank Schleck, Rujano, Pozzovivo, Uran, Kreuziger, Gadret etc etc etc on a gt climb like that.

I knew he was good, but, wow.

I agree.

Awsome ride by Bartek.

Let's hope he make it through the mountains and gets his GC place he is fighting for.

It was Uran, he has long hair. Looked very good too, definitely improving as Giro goes by :)

I really can't believe I just watched all big guns wheelsucking Slagter for 3km

That they even dear to cheer lol

Indeed. Impressed by TJ today. I must say that to me these kind of finishes suit him most.

Makes me wonder how he could've done if he followed or if they let him go when he went since nobody really knew him afterall.

No, they could have done much more with this climb. The fear of the 3rd week is having an iron grip on the favorites.

Ah, but that's a completely different matter. If that's what you meant all along, then yeah, everybody's waiting, and it sucks. Purito went for the stage and pink jersey, Hesjedal was simply trying to save his jersey, Urán and Gadret could have gained some time for the GC. But the others? Bah.

Come the third week they'll be saying they're too tired to do anything, or they'll complain about there not being enough stages to take time or whatever.

Obviously. What do you expect. I think Purito rode very smart.

That was a strange final climb! It seemed that Rodriguez was soft-pedalling after Slagter, but nobody was able to close the gap to them. Eventually it was a very easy win for Rodriguez. Still, I cannot help thinking he should have taken more time.

By the way, can anybody tell me more about that Huzarski guy. Could he be a factor for the GC as well?

The bonus seconds on here while not there idea is working though.

Others ride like cowards, Pozzovivo says, Ill take those 20 thank you very much.

Problem is it didn't work with Pozzovivio because he was forced to start with over a minute disadvantage which has made things more boring, but with Purito, he will be happy with the bonus he took today and on sunday, which the others will have to make up in the mountains + the headstart he got)

It's not about being a coward, but about not being an idiot. Purito knows his distance, he knows when he has to go. He's not going to go early unless he absolutely has to. Not his fault if Slagter or anyone else doesn't grasp that concept as well as him.

Now, Slagter was just inexperienced, it's no big deal, and he will have learned lots from the experience.

This. I'm glad Slagter did it. Gives himself an idea about where he stands on finishes like this.
It's not like anyone expected him here anyways.

I must say that I was impressed by the apparent ease with which Slagter seemed to climb the steeper parts of the climb, almost holding back as if he was surprised that he could ''get away'' so easily. Too bad he missed the ''eindschot'' at the end but his efforts were impressive nonetheless. Aside from Poels, Slagter seems to really excel on the steep stuff for the Dutch. Cool.

Yeah Hitch, but the others know Rodriguez will have his typical off-day or 2 even in the mountains and he won't be a threat anyway

They were caught while they were having a good look at the tarmac.

Slagter probably felt he had to anticipate the favourites to get a result. No point waiting til the last and then getting swamped by Purito, Scarponi et al.

Considering he started the first ramp so far back in the bunch, Rujano didn't do so badly.

This is his goal. But I really do not know, thinj that Bartosz alone does not really know what he is able to do.... I predicted him to finish top 20 before the race, but today he shocked me.

He is a good alrounder, and he made great progress in the mountains this season. He was 7th in the Punta Valeno stage in Trentino, he was second in Coppi and Bartali, would easily be top ten in Trentino but crashed in the last stage.

To be fair he is not proven in such competition, this is only his second GT. He also never before had great results in high mountains.

Fingers crossed for Huzar. He is a great guy.
