I must say that I was impressed by the apparent ease with which Slagter seemed to climb the steeper parts of the climb, almost holding back as if he was surprised that he could ''get away'' so easily. Too bad he missed the ''eindschot'' at the end but his efforts were impressive nonetheless. Aside from Poels, Slagter seems to really excel on the steep stuff for the Dutch. Cool.
Slagter always seems to ride like that, the times I've paid attention at least. He rides quite a big gear, which (to me) makes him less suited for the long, steep climbs.

Hoping he has some decent recovery and recuperation, as I would love to see how he goes in st19/20. No expectations, just intrigued at this moment.

Well that was a pretty weird finish.
Purito easy with Slagter and Huzarski, the others apparently struggling to follow  I expected Scarponi and Astana(s) to be there at least.
Pozzovivo better than expected. I'm starting to think he could be a huge contender.

I noticed this also.
Tho slagter in many regards is still an unknown quantity.

The Butcher chopped up the bunch into Rujano size pieces!:D
Nice work that man.
Team NetApp>>>Androni.
Little gaps mean tens of seconds lost by Jose, Damiano and Frankie.

After Oman it's the second time I think Slagter is better at short steep stuff than an actual climb. But he's also very young so who really knows?

This is his goal. But I really do not know, thinj that Bartosz alone does not really know what he is able to do.... I predicted him to finish top 20 before the race, but today he shocked me.

He is a good alrounder, and he made great progress in the mountains this season. He was 7th in the Punta Valeno stage in Trentino, he was second in Coppi and Bartali, would easily be top ten in Trentino but crashed in the last stage.

To be fair he is not proven in such competition, this is only his second GT. He also never before had great results in high mountains.

Fingers crossed for Huzar. He is a great guy.

Cool! I'm looking forward too his remaining Giro. Always nice to see an unknown guy doing well!

Didn't mention Huzarski yet. He deserves a mention for sure. 2nd on this finish with all these big contenders it's no small feat.

Really curious how he will do in the Dolomites.

They were caught while they were having a good look at the tarmac.

Again, the tarmac proves decisive.

I can barely control myself, now, thinking of what is yet to come in only a few hours. Oh Mamma!

Could become a good classics rider as todays stage was 250km as well. But knowing Rabobank they will probably force him into GT's etc :p

Too bad for Hesjay, but probably good that Garmin doesn't have to defend now, as long as he keeps in good position as if he was the M. Rosa. he can afford to lose some time to JRod (especially on these type of stages)... will make it up in the TT.

Rujano is simply not a complete rider and hence will never win a gt. Ryo can keep dreaming.

Lol. we speak each other again after next week. he lost a massive 7 seconds today to other favorites despite having no teammates and being placed horribly

By all means I'd love to be proved wrong, rujano is an awesome rider. I'm just stating my feelings about his gt prospects.
