Yes, because Purito can do the same damage few times in this Giro, and he's TTing very well.

Liquigas are riding for that last week and they want to ensure Basso is totally ready for that last week.

Therefore no as the Giro will be decided in that final week and the rider who is the strongest there will win the tour, so in the grand scheme of things just as long as Basso is kept out of trouble and doesnt lose too much time on these stages then for Liquigas they will have completed their duty for the first 2 weeks.

Does 20 seconds at best make all that difference, when it comes to the grand scheme of things?

Well if one asked Fignon about his lost TDF to Lemond about the importance of seconds...

Wild cards' performance so far

2 stages: Rubiano (Androni) & Pozzovivo (Colnago)
KOM: Rubiano
Stage's fast team: NetApp'

Besides, some of the Pro'Conti teams riders have been part of several breakaway attempts in order to let the organizers and their respective
management that they deserve to be there. Great going so far, keep it up, kiddos'

Netapp's achiements look really silly compared to last year's Androni or Acqua&Sapone(Garzelli) or this years Androni and Colnago :)

I think you missed it, Androni was the Fast Team in stage 6 If you think this as an achievement :D

should be great stage, will see break caught cant see it staying out, and winner will go early on final climb, whether a good chase comes or not im not sure, any of big gc guys will try and get up with least risk possible, so maybe j.rod holds back but he didnt today.

Maybe one for astana in gaspo or tirr.

It's like they decided to take all the best parts about finishing at the Castillo in Cuenca, in Briançon Old Town and the Citadel in Namur, then combine them!

Have a feeling I'll be watching tomorrow's stage as much for the scenery as the racing. Hopefully the racing will do justice to beauty of the finish. ;)

1-Jquim
2-Cunego
3-Henao or Uran

No particular order but i think Jquim is itching to go. Also a great place to put time on the likes of Basso, Schleck, Rujano etc

The rest of the top GC contenders to play it safe.

Just figured out purito means small cigar! lol!!

Yeah. If I'm not mistaken this nickname was given to him by his teammates during a training ride for his small stature

EDIT: NVM, checked wikipedia and it has a different story

When some of his teammates stepped up the pace in a small climb, he passed them making a hand gesture appearing to be smoking a cigar, suggesting he was climbing without much effort. The gesture was not welcomed by his teammates, who made him smoke a real cigar as a hazing ritual later in the evening

I read the same one, although it should be added that it was as a neo-pro at ONCE, not him just bullying Galimzyanov because he can't climb.

This is going to be an epic finish. I think itll be a duel between Rodriguez and Scarponi with JRod taking the win. Katusha and Lampre will work to bring the break back. Also, Schleck should be up there in the top 5. How about Tiralongo though, maybe a repeat?
