As Rujano ably demonstrated, even the best climber in the world looks like a chump if they shoot their bolt at the wrong moment.

Sadly the infantalised 500KM uphill at 15% fantacists think a stage is rubbish if the attacks haven't started with 20km to go, and ignore the reality that most decent riders will wait for 4km to go.

Were Alberto Contador or Andy Schleck riding this stage, and Rujano was demonstrating something using their example? Cause if it was so indeed, I must have missed it on my TV.

Indeed. He's for real.
Basso didn't have legs in my opinion.
Scarponi looked very good.

ya basso didn't have the legs. . . he only dropped almost every1 when he set the pace for a few hundred meters and then easily followed all accelerations

I suffer from insomnia, I'm wondering if I can order some Ryder Hesjedal audiobooks to send me off to sleep. :)

You must have also missed me, and nearly everyone else, mocking him on this thread.

not as much fail as the hyped BMC this year..

well we could read all the predictions Rujano would smash everyone in the mountains and then he loses time... as bad as the BMC fail

with an introduction by Séan Kelly!

The abuse of Rujano here is unwarranted. He only ever said he was the THIRD best climber in the world ;)

Really hoping Pozzovivo can make something of this. I hope Liquigas don't do their best to neutralise the stage, as well.

he and Scarponi must really start getting time back from the others, they realise they are behind him in the GC?

De Gendt will suffer on the steeper climbs but may hold on...

At least Purito is going a little way to living up to the #2 tag, might be top10 now.

But with Contador banned, and Horner clearly in decline, it's only natural to infer he's now the best.

I actually find Kelly interesting. I think it's the combination of a monotonous voice and speaking in the sportsman cliché dialect that makes Ryder so soporiphic. I really like the fact that Kelly thinks before he speaks. It's a trait that I think is sadly lacking in other sports, and public life in general.

Liquigas should really consider not setting the pace for once, allthough this high-pace without accelarations suits Basso most.... So I can see them doing the same tomorrow.

It wasn't and I'm afraid you get much of the blame.
(close though and there is still time for Ryo to pull his fail train into the winning station)

Today it was okish but really the last climb was too easy, and with the headwind and everything, everyone felt good on wheels.
It's not really curious that a nice rouleur like Ryder gained some time on purest climbers.

Tomorrow should be more interesting, harder slopes and more fatigue make for an interesting mix.

Beautiful win by Amador here.

Wasn't he the guy that robbed when he was training in his home country last year? And was left in the gutter knocked out?

Really aggresive rider as well. Always in lots of breaks, so it's good to see it paid off for him for once.

meh, good ride by Ryder, but the reality is it was allowed to happen because the others didn't (don't?) take him seriously.

As soon as Purito went everyone was off like a shot, shortly after having watched Ryder ride off.

neutralize the stage? since when does liqui neutralizes stages? they were the ones that upped the pace and started the attacks with basso today . . . .

Oh no doubt Ryo will pull his train into the winning. As if someone would actually expect him to say "Indeed guys you were and I was wrong".

The guy is a narcist.
