I'd leave Thomas exactly where he is. For the Tour it'll be EBH, but I have little faith he would have negotiated Cav back to the very front in that final 1.2k today.

farrar certainly doesnt have the respect in the sprint like he used to, he got pushed around by every single person he got near in the last 3km

that's not respect, that's LEGS. look at how he really struggled during the sprint, he waited and waited behing hunter, and when he stood on the pedals the others were much faster.
i hope he can get a better condition in the next weeks.

Alright, I'll say it. Phinney should get a time sanction and a fine for the way his team car towed him. Agreed?

But the point is he shouldn't be freestyling that far out anyway. Stick him man 3 and he can still be there at 1200m to save a **** up, but at least there is a genuine leadout man left for the last 500m.

Got to admit, I'm glad Denmark won't be hosting a big race for a long time. Lot's of great possibilities to make racing interesting in Denmark yet they only seem to care about making the worst races in history.

That one day race is Herning is pretty cool, but got cancelled this year because of this farce.

As much as I wanted to disagree here I can't really come up with anything.

It could have been a good stage if winds were present. But planning a stage on weather conditions being the one main factor for excitement is really not the right way to do it.

Disagreed. Nobody complains if its done like that 170 km out, assuming they'd ride full out.

Unless it's Qatar. :p

Oh well, at least the prologue was ok... :D

Pretty nasty from Sky in the last few, but Cav was fast in the end. Farrar must not have it, always waits to see Cav fly by before going for it. Should have started his sprint earlier, but such is life.

Nasty from sky ? In what way do you mean .

I have to say, as a cycling fan I am confused by the whole situation.

How is he allowed to cheat like that - simply baffling.

Another thing that really annoys me - Riders with their jersey's unzipped. Nearly as stupid as those weird radio things they use.

**** leadout, despite having 6 men left with 2.5km to go. If they'd have drilled it from there it would have been a much easier win, and a few people might have avoided hospital.

Blaming them for that isn't really right ?

But I agree, but... Cav is a great sprinter in that he can stay relaxed and focused throughou,t when he doesnt have a train and find a good wheel, he doest need a great train to win.

For clarity, no intention to suggest any blame or fault - but the lack of a competent team in the front was a partial cause.

Nah. After yesterdays performance that would be a silly way of losing the shirt.
It would have been silly, but tough luck, and them's the rules.

I find it quite hypocritical that team managers and DS's are always talking up the security factor in the race radio debate, but then are willing to tow a rider around at insane speeds, or letting them ride right in the car's slipstream, where any incident would mean a crash into the rear window.

Personally I think it's a disgrace to see the mechanics pretending to be doing something when we all know what's happening. If it were up to me I'd ban any sort of contact between cars and riders, except through bottles, and that only for up to a second.

As if Geraint Thomas and Cavendish have never done the same in their career

Some of these wouldn't have gone amiss (was posted here back in 2010):

OK, most are surrounding Vejle or on Bornholm, but you'd think putting a few mid-stage could at least put a bit of tiredness into the sprinters' legs and create a bit more opportunity for attacking to work.

Oh please don't compare me with Roche. I don't think I said anything unreasonable, while Roche mixed the reasonable with the bat**** loco.

Nah, would have been unfair on the lad to lose the pink on a mechanical

I'm not making any comparison, just thought his comments were comically silly and deserved trotting out in the circumstances.

Personally, as much as I would like Phinney to be penalised, I'm not sure it would be very just given that happens all the time.
