Actually, yes I think it's smart. This year they had one leader, who crashed in stage 5, and their Tour de France went down the toilet. If you enter the race with three guys, surely one of them will still be alive and kicking after the first week.

Unless you're RadioShack.

you obviously don't know rabo

That's back when Gesink was king ;)

The Tour Pantani won, and the one Rasmussen was almost going to win, both had more TT kilometers. Just because in recent years it has been a little less, doesn't mean that climbers have no chance of making the top-10 anymore.

They can't win, but they can't win a 100% climbing Tour either.

But those Tours also had way more climbing. The reason this one is seen as more a tt specialist one is not so much because there is so much tt, but because there is so little climbing.

Still pretty serious climbing in about 5 stages.

not at all sure about the sky ones. Sivtsov vuelta? Heneo Tour? Uran Giro?

Sivtsov is almost certainly doing the giro, along with thomas, cavendish, dowsett, appo, and proabably eisel and lofkvist.

I did state numerous times its was more a case of mentioning the riders than where exactly they'll race for GC. So I view the omission of Froome :)doh:) a more glaring fact. :D

Anyway, I updated the list, with Pinotti, Froome and Di Luca added. At least name-wise it should be more accurate now.

Wilco is not going to ride any GTs though. The guy is just 20. *edit* I just noticed that he's on for all three of them, okay okay, I get the joke.

Slagter is their main man for the Giro, I guess. Maybe a guy like Ten Dam or Garate as well.

I hope slagter does go with to the giro, and with a free role. His vuelta impressed me.

So Rabobank are putting all their eggs into tdf basket? What are they thinking?

it is dissapointing. But tour is important in holland. whatever.

I hope poels does the giro.

**** me, I forgot about Renshaw. Horrible signing.

Matthews will probably be selected also, which doesn't bode well for Ten Dam and his obsession with the Tour.

Gesink
Kruijswijk
Mollema
Sanchez
Barredo
Renshaw
Matthews
Niermann
Tjallingii or Boom

something like that, I guess?

no way matthews would get a tour spot. Also there is matti.
Boom I bet gets a spot for Tjallingi and I wouldn't count out LTD either.

Did you see a Pantani or Rasmussen type of cyclist in that list?

you clearly understood the point he tried to make.

anyway, whatever you say it is still important race for rabo because it is the race that matters in Holland. Even if they can get a couple of stage wins and gesink in the top 10 that would probably be succesful.

I'm not a fan of all 3 racing the tour tho.

regarding kelderman I doubt he starts a GT next year. I know it was a joke, but I can envisage his first GT being vuelta 13'

I do not think Sivtsov should do the Vuelta. I think the Giro would suit him fine. I would much rather have Porte there ( for the ITT miles/ in the mould of Wiggins ) and Uran.
Also Kelderman will hopefully not compete in any GT other than the Vuelta for this year.
Also you missed out for Steve Morabito, TJVG and Pinotti as leaders of BMC at the GT's.

I want to see Haas ride races like the Tour of Switzerland and maybe the Vuelta.

Breschel if he does the TDF might be tired, ( even though he could do both ) I would prefer for him to compete early in the season then fine-tune for the WC at the Vuelta.

I have no idea about either of them... Kruijswijk was only a 2nd year pro this year, and with a bit more conservative riding (instead of going in the breakaway in a medium mountain stage) could definitely have finished higher than 9th. Mollema is a relatively inexperienced guy, and don't underestimate the effect of mono on an endurance athlete. I think there's a lot of room for growth.

Sanchez is not past it, just overrated.

All the young Dutchies at Rabo have a good chance to develop. They all have potential ( evidently ).

In my view LLS peak years are behind him ( though he might come back ) and for some reason i like him. I think he is like Rogers ( a one week specialist )

Speaking of one week races i want to see Richie Porte go to the ToC. This is because:
1. The race route is suited to him ( Hard ITT/ other factors that i think could suit him )
2. This shall show whether he has the GC ability ( and whether moving from Riis was worth it )
3. He shall practically have leadership position there. Froome and Wiggins would probably do the Dauphinie.

The list was partially a troll attempt. Don't pay and real attention to it.

And Glava Tour of Norway is up to a 2.1 for next year so world tour teams can take part.

Organisers hopefully that Sky will attend with EBH

http://www.glavatour.no/en/

And we might get a second Norwegian stage race from 2013 too:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/arctic-tour-of-norway-planned-for-2013

This might take a bit of the pressure off the Glava Tour, since its inaugural edition was more or less a Tour of the Oslofjord, without really including many serious climbs. Norway can offer so much, such a beautiful country and landscape. It's nice to see them developing on the current popularity of the sport there.

They're going to have a couple of new teams for next year too. Going by CQ's list, I'd think a reasonable list of teams to have would be:

BlueWater (Denmark)
Christina Watches (Denmark)
Concordia Førsikring (Denmark)
CykelCity (Sweden)
Designa Køkken (Denmark)
Glud en Marstrand (Denmark)
Joker-Merida (Norway)
Oster Hus-Ridley (Norway)
Plussbank-BMC (Norway)
Ringeriks-Kraft (Norway)
Team NorSpons (Norway)
Team Tre-For (Denmark)

That's 12 teams right there; if you include the likely developmental teams for Rabobank, Garmin and/or BMC and a couple of journeying Continental teams like Endura, then you have a full roster already.

If you can then get some teams like Not Skil, SpiderTech, TopSport Vlaanderen and Type 1 to go, and a couple of ProTour teams, most likely those with an interest in Norway - Sky, BMC and Saxo spring to mind - you have a pretty solid race roster.

Good news about the Glava Tour and a second one that might spring up.

It will be nice to see Verbier in the Tour De Suisse.
Does anyone have thoughts on what Nibalis' programme for next year will be, to prepare for the TDF. T-A/ Classics/ low key build up/ either one of Dauphinie or Suisse is what i would assume but i have no idea what he has done previously so...

on would excpect that if they can attract thor and edvald that the parcours will be tailored accordingly.

This year's parcours was pretty good for that type of rider.
