Froome: I saw something in Contador today that showed he was not great.

Interviewer: Was it a look in his eyes?

Froome: No, it was the large stretch of tarmac between me and him at the finish.

(This may or may not have happened, I didn't listen to any interviews.)

:D good one.

Contador looked really good 2 days ago. I think it's just a bad day combined with this climb not suiting him.

I'm not worried. If the same happens saterday then i'll start getting worried :D

Woo, go Froome!

Didn't catch the stage today, but seeing the result made me smile. Would be sooooo funny if Froome stole this Vuelta from Bertie.

Is there such a thing as "stealing" a race that doesn't have something to do with clinic reasons?

I think he really intended to win the stage so Saxo worked. No one just can guarantee that he will feel very well all the climb. He cracked literally 300 meters to go.

Very true. Add to that what the effects of his suspension can or could do upon entering races. There might be a few ups and downs, even from here and on.

It's over for Alberto

Aaand let it all out...

Anyhow.. Contadors stock will probably rise as the tour progresses, I don't think he is "spent" in any way. He will likely improve on his way to the third week.

we finally have a great GT after so many fails and what we do? we speak about this florecita baby girl for half of last 15 pages. sometimes I think i'm the oldest here, though I'm 28.
it's also interesting to see that those users who said on Monday that this is the best GT ever (because of their favourite seven 25 meters attacks) are now complaining about how lame this, in my opinion best show in years, is (again, because of same Contador).
Just sit back and enjoy this beautiful race.

Contador will be stronger than this, but it will take some time, maybe a little more than 1 week

Not being a favorite and upsetting the experts.

Ok, this one may not really apply with Contador's little break and Froome's last 2 GTs.

Agree on this and its like you could feel Unipublics invisible hand on this. They really got the race and the drama which was intended.

I think we just have to accept that Froome will be the new Armstrong. Both of them didn't show any results what so ever in GTs before their late breakthrough, they both broke through in the Vuelta, they both almost never got tired during their career, they both obsess with tiny details what some call marginal gains here, they're both terrific time trial specialists despite having a very bad position on a time trial bike, they're Anglophone, etc

You are from GB or USA or so and can't convert foot to meter? Count it again.

Yea holy ****.. Easily lost 10 seconds he shouldnt have.

Could've finished with Capecchi and co if you see that final 500m.
They were already too far back when the penultimate climb started. They could never get to the front that way.
Time for Mollema to say goodbye to his GC and work for Gesink.
