Great win by Sagan! only cancellara can beat him!
I actually think Gilbert's sprint was quite decent, he should have waited for Sagan to open it. Impressive rides by devolder and leukmans having been in the break.
Looking good for gilbert though. i have hope for him in Amstel Gold and Flech Wallone though he needs to work out a way to beat sagan tactically. But if he continues improving he seems to be the favourtie for LBL!

Sagan looked like he was doing it easy when he rode up to GVA. Maybe Gilbert could have delayed his sprint a bit longer but it would not have mattered I don't think.

We shall never know but he gave Sagan the chance of a very brief breather and only lost about half a bike length. Anyway, the important thing is that Gilbert looks like he is going to be in good form next week, Sagan doesn't win the really big ones. Great to see Van Avermaet add another 3rd-7th place finish to his palmares.

Nice long-term troll that for whenever he decides to turn up and win it.

True that.

What about T-A stage 6? :D

This year roch aux faucons is also gone, you never know.

what i dont really get is chavanel's attacking. He always seems to attack at the wrong time. either too late or too early and once he gets caught he adds insult to injury by attacking again!! he is a very strong time trialist and he should try long range attacks like cancellara. He might have a better chance at succeeding. He doesn't seem to ride very smartly.

Yeh on current form he would have a great chance I think. He would only struggle if it kicked off before Redoute and Moser went missing.

Problem is if it wasn't on his radar at the start of the season it's a bit hard for him to try and win M-SR, Ronde and Liege.

They know him too well, he always attacks towards the finish and he knew how strong Gilbert and Sagan were. He probably had to go when he did but he did not do as much work as the others, he was sitting on the back of group for a while so he may not have been feeling good.

After watching the final... If Sagan does not participate on GW and LBL, who the hell can come close to Phil?

Purito can do it at GW, but what about LBL? No one was close, and gil will only get stronger. GVA is like a horse, the guy will work for him for 20 km and then attack, so GIl can sit on wheels. Reminds me of kyrienka.

My only hope?

Val-f*ckin-verde I would love that!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, 95% of the contenders for LBL weren't at this race.

Keep dreaming. Phil will destroy the Spanish Armada in LBL.
