It seems official.

Daniel Benson @dnlbenson
Contador did say he's aiming for a Giro d'Italia and Tour de France double in 2013.

Another poll? :D
I'll believe it when I'll see him with my own eyes in Naples. With the number on his back.

That means Alberto's trying to win three consecutive GT's, which would be quite impressive despite having an off-season between them. Has any other rider ever done this before?

Or it's just nonsense/rumours/wishes from his fans/bad source which means he'll not do the Giro like he planned all along.

But hold on for a new poll, let's wait for Purito to make up his mind once and for all. LOL!!!

Eddy Merckx:

1972: Giro, Tour de France
1973: Vuelta and Giro

If AC is really coming it would be pointless to start a new poll anyway :D

Ok, very impressive, but I thought that back then the Vuelta was just a preparation race for other GT's. They also raced much more instead of aiming for one race. If you can now win more than one GT in one year against riders aiming for just one it would be very impressive.(+ the Clinic will crash due to too many posts/sec)

yea. It's funny to see people freak out cos they think it won't be an exciting race with him. :D

Well, yeah, I think it'll be less exciting. I don't believe the 90% talk... that surely won't happen. Also, some of the other contenders / pretenders could skip the Giro if this is true.

Alberto wants to be 100% at the tour so he can't be 100% at il giro

Tbh I think that atm Bertie wanna do the Giro, but Riis doesnt want him too (the Tour is too important for the sponsors and for Riis himself)

Should be sending Big Mick to the Giro to reprise his 7th place or whatever it was in 2009.
