Cannondale:
Ivan Basso
Elia Viviani
Tiziano Dall’Antonia
Paolo Longo Borghini
Alan Marangoni
Fabio Sabatini
Cameron Wurf
Cristiano Salerno
Josè Sarmiento.

Rather sad to see the complete lack of Climbing talent in the lime green nowadays. Other than Viviani I feel they might struggle. Hopefully Basso can surprise, but I have my doubts. Crazy to think that Cameron Wurf will probably be his main domestique.

Cannondale will manage to let us down nevertheless. Even if our expectations are low already.

Sarmiento once was a promising climber.

A crap team indeed, even if by some stroke of divine intervention Basso manages to get a hold of the pink jersey, they won't be able to defend it. To think that when Basso last won the Giro they tackled the mountains with a train of Szmyd-Kiserlovski-Nibali-Basso...

I still believe Basso can show something.
He's only GT leader of the team after Nibali's departure and it's time to make some sense of it (the departure).

Nevertheless, a podium spot looks to be way out of Basso's reach.

well everyone from ivan's camp says everything went absolutely perfect in his preparation. so there won't be any excuses.
i expect an uber strong ivan basso. and liquigas always was strong in giro even with a crrap team. they don't have to control anything anyway

Yes. Very comfortable position for the Cannondale.

P.S.: I certainly won´t change it, and I might get used to it, but "Santa" doesn´t really make clear at once who´s meant... My first thought now was Santa Anza, second thought Santaromita, then I got it - if you meant Santambrogio. I know it´s long, so maybe we write "Santam"? If we have reason to write... ;)

OK, good to know, didn´t check BMC´s startlist.. ;)

You're spoiling my hyperbole. Santaromita might go to ride fir Evans, but Santambrogio is the one in form and hungry, who is going to animate the race.

Why would Basso have ridden for Nibali then? Basso was clearly the best candidate to lead and Nibali would have struggled to beat Scarponi unless he had lost substantially less on stage 11 where he waited for Basso, but it's hard to say what would have happened on that epic day.
