Well thar are clearly the 5 strongest guys.
You maybe could've left out Sanchez, but well he's on paper just a bit stronger than Pellizotti, Scarponi or Gesink. (Franco was out a long time, Rob was unlucky the past seasons and Scarponi just isn't really a big champ although he has some quality)

Hopefully Wiggins will be struggling in the mountains or won't be on top peak. Than this could be a very interesting Giro with about 8 guys which seem to be on eye level (+ Pozzovivo/Betancur, + Chaves/Atapuma, + Rujano).

But the same way it could've been at the Giro 2011 without Contador (Nibali, Anton, Scarponi, Gadret would've been really close). We need to see

Have you checked? Maybe there is a Dutch version. Anyway, Gesink continuous to be invisible for stage-race organizers, remember last year's TdC and TdF?
Yes, he sure showed them in the TDF :p

You know the Eyetalians, even way into the 3d week of last year's Giro they didn't care one iota about mr. Hesjedal. Same will happen to Bobby G.

Gesink is at least known as a once promising rider among italian fans and medias (at least the cycling related).
Ryder was a complete nobody before the Giro.

Anyway I'm gonna flood all italian cycling forums about Gesink big potential for Giro 2013 so he won't get in unnoticed :D

Vini Fantini's Giro selection
Rafael Andriato
Francesco Chicchi
Mauro Finetto
Stefano Garzelli
Matteo Rabottini
Mauro Santambrogio
Fabio Taborre
Oscar Gatto

Isn't there a big interest conflict between Rabottini and Garzelli being on the same team? Both of them should have the maglia azzuro as main goal. Although Rabottini might decide to step up and focus on a the gc (I think Garzelli's done with that after 2009).

in particular

My thoughts exactly has to be a sign naming 8 riders this early. Just can announce the 9th yet cause they still have to announce Il Killer is going to wear yellow (vini jersey) but mainly pink ofcourse this may.

that's all we're praying for.

just one more time god pls

The 9th spot will be filled by the rider who impresses this season. The Giro does not start next week. Hopefully Di Luca starts a bicycle store soon; time for new riders.

so lets see:

GC:
1 di Luca
2 Basso
3 Scarponi

KOM
Garzelli

Points
Ale-Jet

The foreigners can pick up some of the other pointless jerseys. Perhaps this will get Pat to rethink the globalization project.

That doesn't make any sense. The goal of globalization is to spread cycling around the world, to countries that never had much of competitive cycling etc. Nothing to do with old Italian riders dominating Giro ( very highly unlikely too :D )

there are many ways to define globalization: location of races, rider nationality, fan base and lastly the nations who will pick up the tab.

Anyway Di Luca winning would take us back a few years (again).

But that's not going to happen ( if you mean GC as you did in previous post ) I think everyone with some logic and understanding of cycling in last few years would know. Di Luca is old and past his best for the GC by long way. He could take a win though somewhere.

Not trying to sound like di*ck here btw :)
