that is good. He has steadily improved his climbing abilities over thelast 2-3 years, and will be a very strong helper for Nibali in the not so hard mountains (and he is an ok tter)

Gloin22 said:Evans is quite a good friend with Wiggins actually. Helped at times Froome at Tirreno as well. I wouldn't expect him working with Nibali much against Wiggins specifically.
auscyclefan94 said:I don't recall them being friends tbh and neither do I recall him working for Froome.
Gloin22 said:Well he did help him at Tirreno. Either stage 6 or 7. He struggled a bit on the hills and Evans was pacing his small group to bring him back to the lead group. He didn't really have to do that, but he did. It's not like he was juts working for Froome of course, he was doing it fro himself a bit as well, but he was helping Froome to bridge the gap definitely.
Pentacycle said:He's been the prototype of borgs ever since he raced GT's himself. On the Galibier in 2011 he put out a performance never matched afterwards by the now Skyborgs, and he never attacked from far before 2012. And now he's just pathetic, not accepting TJVG is the best possible leader for BMC. Why doesn't he just accept the injuries and illnesses have taken their toll on him, and he's close to retirement?
Gloin22 said:He's definitely not going win it though. Top 10 plus a stage win at best imo. Anyway I do like he doesnt ride Tour. He wouldn't be any factor at Tour at all.
movingtarget said:If Cunego and Voeckler managed to hang on Evans back wheel for most of the Galibier it shows you how good Basso, Contador, Sanchez and co were going. When has Evans ever had a team mate with him on the last half of a MTF not counting 2012 of course ? Sky have at least four there towards the finish. Horner used to drop off when the attacks began but was there longer than any of Evan's other team mates. Evans has nothing in common with the Skyborg. You are confusing him with US Postal.
auscyclefan94 said:Voeckler had a spectacular TDF and Cunego was also back to some very good form. It seems you are putting down the enormity of Evans' performance on the Galibier.
Evans has no chance whatsoever. It'll be a training ride for him, a farewell Tour? Your degree of 'naïvité' is amazing.auscyclefan94 said:I am very happy about this. It makes total sense. Evans has won the Tour, why not try to add the Giro? The fact that his form is not great atm does not bother me. That will mean he won't be too good for the Giro too early.

Yeah but how? He has shown zero high-level of competitiveness.movingtarget said:Well Evans pretty much conceded that Nibali and Wiggins will probably fight out the win and that he was going to do what he could in the race.
No worries mate, I forgive you for being a fanboy. You can call me 'stoopid' too (I saw what you did).auscyclefan94 said:Your degree of incapability to read what I said never ceases to amaze me. I said, "why not try to add the giro". That does not mean I think he will win. He also said that it won't be a training ride, so you are wrong again.
Pentacycle said:He rode like a train that day, so much that it was perhaps the performance of a lifetime, and it defined his career. The TT 2 days later was just a formality. Galibier was when Cadel finally took matters in his own hands, not anticipating on actions of others.

Pentacycle said:No, most riders opting to go to the Giro this year just have some bad experiences with the Tour. Sammie crashed hard last year, and Basso had a bad run in 2010, '11 and '12. Gesink has never not crashed in the Tour, Hesjedal wasn't very lucky either last year. Evans perhaps feels the Tour is a level too high for him now, or that it may help him prepare for the Tour.
.
Typical Evans responses, like this one: 'I have a bit of work to do'.movingtarget said:Maybe you should be asking him that. He says "it's not for training" but it's hard to think otherwise unless can can get a stage win. See if there is any any improvement at Trentino.

No. That's "Don't stand on my dog!"movingtarget said:I think it's Cadelspeak for "go away !"
That's a great work of 'decoding' Cadel, but the journos and ACF haven't figure it out yet.movingtarget said:I think it's Cadelspeak for "go away !"
