It's clear that this giro is a race for real men

And about the transmission, chill. The motos are on the ground, they're recording the race, so there IS footage, it's not just reaching us.

What'll hopefully (and logically) happen is that the tapes will be collected when the motos arrive, rushed to the TV booth, and they'll mesh together a proper race coverage. Worse case scenario, we'll get highlights.

This has potential for a Roche style surprise appearance near the end - hope it isn't ruined by occasional updates - if they can't do pictures just make the whole thing secret until it finishes - with weather like this there could easily be some shock weak performances from the top 10.

Yes the actual final 5 minutes of watching them come through the mist with no idea on what riders it's going to be is exciting but ofcourse not worth a wasted 2-3hours

What the actual f do you wan't them to do?

This sport is privileged enough to be able to ride in nature. In the wild, rough nature. When it occasionally happens, and let's be honest - it's not damn often, that nature won't have it there's not much to do about. Whining won't help anything. That's for sure.

I'm ok with not racing up mountains when it isn't safe, but I can't accept that there can ever be weather that justifies starting the race but not broadcasting any pictures.

RAI just announced the French have closed down the road. I think.

Galibier definitely out?

Both Cenis and Galibier officially out, as i wrote an hour ago.

At the start of the coverage we had pictures (eg Battaglin crash) but we don't now. What happened? Was the plane up in the air but later ordered down or those initial pictures didn't need the plane?

Also Evans' best climb ever.

2nd best. I can't remember which stage it was, but IMO it was the one in 2011 where he pulled the group alone for the entire climb, chasing Andy, and dropping Contador and most of the group on his own.

So what are they going to do now ? Are they going to show what's recorded as soon as possible or is there a time slot for highlight later in the day/night ?

They've moved into the valley between big mountains, bad weather above nowhere else for the signal to go.

Yes, in 2013 one would think they would have some type of back up plan.

Like using the internet or some other network to upload some delayed video to show something
