Cycling television coverage is going backwards. In the '90s they never had this problem; if the heli couldn't fly they'd get a plane that would fly higher instead and we'd have pictures that were a bit crackly, but at least we could see them. Now that they use digital signals instead of analogue, they can't do that because now it's all or nothing. With digital the picture doesn't crackle or fizz if it's a bad signal, it just stops altogether.

They use digital so that they can show us HD. Great, HD pictures of people standing around doing nothing. That's what everyone wants to see. How could we survive if we had a slightly dodgy quality analogue signal of the cyclists instead? We'd all go crazy; they're saving us from the horror of SD quality TV because they know we'd rather waste time watching nothing at all for hours. Thanks, guys.

(What a mess. Take me back to the '90s.)

Yeh and how you so sure was it just his 1 custmary bad day. Nibali also had a train that day the Sky train, look at stage 7 Sir Wiggo beat him in an uphill sprint aswell lmao. This race is even lamer than last years TDF and that is a fact, withot today and tommorow the Giro is over even a great last week wont make up.

I know we're all disappointed about this, but lets stay reasonable. The first week of this Giro has been better than the whole of last years Tour.

How can we get the moto coverage after the race since we can't see it live?

Back in the 90's at least they used to store the video from the cameras on motorbikes.

So finish the race, pop the storage device out and presto, video.

Because they cant beam from the moto to the helicopter live. The cloud cover is blocking the IR.

Therefore they will record to DAT on the camera.

Simples.

We have had a few riders drop back so I can open @PowerBar for them. Their hands no longer function properly." - Julian Dean

God knows what will happen on the climb! After yesterday I'm half expecting Cav to appear first across the line!

I agree, this is awful. A race that's not on tv doesn't even happen as far as I'm concerned.

And no, I don't give a **** about watching the recorded pictures after I already know what happened.

he'll race the Vuelta to prepare the Worlds...

I hope he changes his mind, as this has been a flattish Giro. Taking on the Skyborgs and the Spanish armada is a can't miss competition.

Don't think we'll get any live pictures. Weather is too dangerous to allow the heli in the air.

Im not so sure, it has a few stages that have been good but the race will be won on atrition. I mean MTF are not everything but we had had 2 good MTF bye now in the TDF we have had 1 so. I dont get your idea about rain rain and more rain has been good.

They should turn tomorrow's stage into a MTT.

And have the MTT that's scheduled next week turn into a decent MTF stage.

Bad idea?
