Well if there was a crash in front of him within 3km, why would he lose time?!

Possibly same as why he lost time at first stage of Tour of Oman despite being behind the crash.

he wasn't involved in the crash
he was probably only slowed down a little bit

it's not sure yet if he will lose the 17 sec or no

because he could have avoid it maybe...

moser-fignon all over again :p

If the crash did not delay him he should lose the time. If he didn't fall or the road was not blocked, too bad.

Didn't watch the tour last year I guess. That's understandable btw

Comment was good for a lol though

Giro is far different from the Tour. Far more difficult to control.

Congrats on being a pretentious *** though

What they said on the RAI:

1) If the Race Judges used the same rules as Napoli then Wiggo would not lose 17s.
2) Wiggo can't appeal.

3) BTW, Nibali's parents up from Messina today are really nice people - haven't seen him since January, apparently they're being interviewed now

Makes no sense, if there's a crash in front of you and you have to slow down you shouldn't get gapped, what is the 3km rule for if not?

No appeal ? Is that an UCI rule or just a crappy Giro rule?

28'20, still in the game, but the days are counting down. If they go hard Friday and he hasn't improved there's not a great chance of making it.

So it's confirmed? He loses time? Because this isn't a sprint stage. You shouldn't be able to hide behind the 3km rule today.

Even in a sprint stage, that rule doesn't count without crashes or mechanicals. Maybe Wiggo was caught behind a crash, could be his luck.
