Australia said:Sad news, but the cynic in me says the stage would have gone ahead if Nibbles was down in second by 15 seconds.
The Hitch said:There is no one who benefits from this more than cuddles. Everyone in the top 10 was looking at his performance yesterday and thinking they can get a place. The way he bled in that time trial he could have been out the back by the time the peloton was reduced to 20 riders today. But with the stages cancelled he ends up with a giro podium and the full set on his palmares.

Lol, that tweet is brilliant. These guys live in some separate universe.jens_attacks said:well that's how things work in general. like schwazer and rebellin at beijing and so on
danilo should have seen it from the beginning that he will be thrown away to the garbage by uci and the giro officials. no protection sucks
let's hope the rest of the peloton will be ok lol
riccardo riccò @riccardo_ricco 22 May

vai killeeeeer!
Those stages weren't cancelled, they were neutralized. Like after Weylandt's death in 2011. They were ridden fully but no attacks, no results.webvan said:When was the last time a GT stage was cancelled?! Other than the Casartelli stage in 95 and the 98 "testing protest" I can't remember any from the top of my head. The conditions can't have been worse in the 1988 Giro? But a good decision, it's a bike race, not a freak show.

Pulpstar said:Winners from the cancellation:
Big winner: Evans - No Doubt he'd have been shelled today on either of the proposed courses by the other GC men.
Majka - The white jersey was going to go to the wire, but he has a better chance to defend it now methinks
Losers:
Lampre - both Niemic and Scarponi much less chance for podium
Uran - Good chance for 2nd
Teejay Van Garderen - With Evans dropped & extra fatigued from today his chances of leadership or co-leadership of TdF would be alot higher.
Betancur - Smaller chance for white jersey.
Unaffected:
Nibali - Wins no matter what happens in the third week.

Another big winner is Cavendish. Nibali, Evans and Betancur also lose a chance to take the red jersey, though I don't think they care too much.Pulpstar said:Winners from the cancellation:
