I think that was Kreuziger. If I recall correctly, Contador was on the left side behind the crash -- near where the Sky rider flipped. Contador rode into a Europcar rider and went down pretty hard.

Yeah, you're right. Wasn't pretty.

Then you are saying that yellow should only be worn by GC contenders.

That was not my full post. Don't do partial quotes.

T-Nielsen said:
So following your logic actually only the final champion should go for yellow because he is the only one who can defend and fight for it to the end.

I wonder if I'm speaking Chinese at times.

I mean riders who will attempt to defend it to a reasonable degree. Voeckler, Hushovd, Cancellara, Dessel, etc.

That said, if Kittel does defend it tomorrow and in the days to come, he'll earn my respect.

I don't think it will be too bad for Cav but losing the best TT rider in the world is sad for the tour in general.

He was a important part of Cav's leadout, a TTer like him can go to the front and drill a very hard pace. So I think it could definitely affect his leadout. Hopefully they will be able to make do with who they have though.

Not just the leadout, but chasing breaks down.

He won the Giro without him. Sure his only main rival there was viviani and goss but Cav can win on his own if he needs to.

Gossy is the dumbest and most uncourageous rider in the peloton. He finally gets a chance with the big names crashing and he crashes himself due to bad positioning. He isn't worth 2 million a year!

He was way out of contention when he did crash.

He as not broke a bone we hear and watch the crash, Contador fell in the middle, the main crash was left side were G.Thomas went over the handle bars. Contador looked in no pain atall to me.:D

Ah so the arch structure at the finish was lowered,as usual, once all the vehicles had passed through. No explanation why orica bus was there.

No, just the leadout. You don't waste talent like that chasing.

Tony is the best leadout rider in the world and losing him is a massive blow.

They'll still, hopefully, win plenty, but Tony is an incredible insurance policy - if he hits the front of their train with 3 to go, he can take the last 3 guys to the red kite, and pull them from 30th to the front if needs be.

Of course he can. But regardless, it's still a blow to their leadout train.

The first week of the Tour is always a training in disappointment for fans. It really gets us ready for the rest of the Tour.

Such a talented rider. It infuriates me to see him chained down by Cav. I can perfectly see Tony pulling those Spartacus 2Km attacks and taking the win.

What a waste.

Sorry, they yellow was earned. Surviving and avoiding crashes is a major skill/luck of cycle racing. Most years it is some time-trial rider that wins the first stage and wears yellow, this year a sprinter. Kittel can wear yellow with pride.
