If you don't have the legs, you don't have the legs. It's nothing to do with a lack of motivation.

Yeh I agree. Porte and Froome are really close and call eachother good friends so I doubt Porte isnt motivated to work for Froome.

He could be demotivated because he lost a lot of time during stage 9 though.

Porte was walking around thinking the Tour was won. Telling the press that it was futile to attack Sky. That was a little red rag to a bull.

Porte is thick though. Have you read his blog posts. It's clear he didn't pass grade school.

Froome is a nice guy. But he needs to give his team a bollocking.

Wiggins is hard to manage but there's no way he'd put up with this tactical plundering.

Yeah, that newspaper comment on Quintana surely comes back like a boomerang.

Translation: in the second group, Froome asks Tankink "why are you guys not riding anymore?"; Tankink responds "Mollema and Ten Dam are actually in the first group..."

porte on dutch tv said he was gutted he lost 2nd place and that that 2nd place was more important to him than working for froome to win the tour. so he;s defintely not motivated anymore. which leaves 5 more helpers, who are all out of shape :eek:

Whatever happened to the good ol' days of Porte where he was a name you say "yeah, I've heard of that guy", but he was basically a middling, slightly disappointing support guy, who may rise up to get a top ten on a stage that no one would remember... Now he's this arrogant little toy poodle yap yap yapping all the time.

Does that mean that once they hit the Wall of Ventoux, we should expect Mikel Snow to lead an motley assault of wildlings that will be semi-non-GC contenders that somehow get enough time to be able to threaten the stopgap defences of Sky?

If i had to, i'd say Dan Martin is Snow ; out on a limb, sworn brothers for back up, and little to lose.

A few pointers for todays stage:

* Great work by OPQs.
How they killed of Kittel, o la la, incredible. Cannondale style.

* Mark Cavendish
I dont like the little troll but hell, he was there when the Saxo Bullet was fired. Incredible.

* Belkin
Uh, that was not fair play fellows. Putting on the power when Valverde has a mechanical.
Besides the moral stance here they were incredible.

* Saxo
One out of the book, incredible.

* BMC
Why were they riding after Saxo tried to kill Sky? Really a bad move.

* Ag2R
See BMC.

Conclusion:
Sky can only be killed of by old skool cycling tactics. See Tirreno. See today.

Froome komt in de 2e groep aan Tankink vragen: 'waarom rijden jullie niet meer?' Tank: 'omdat Mollema en Ten Dam wél mee zitten'.
Froome came asking Tankink why they stopped riding after the Saxo Putsch, Tankink answers ''because Mollema and Ten Dam are with them you lazy bone idle w@nker''

And then Froome said ''Oooooooops''.

I might have made something up here but the moral of the story was the right one.

Peter Post was smiling down when he saw the Saxo echelon.

Someone's probably already said it but Valverde was also unlucky that the gap wasnt quite big enough for the cars to be following the lead peloton. If he had been able to shelter behind the cars then he may well have made it back.

Bit of a shame that Rui Costa lost out too. I dont think he was back there at first but dropped back when they were struggling and it was only shortly after that when they sat up.

If Porte doesn't have the legs, what the hell was he doing in the TT on Wednesday?
Those who wrote Michael Rogers off (including many regular posters here) should be eating humble pie: he was awesome today.
Sky really missing him, especially given Froome's tactical ineptness

I seen a Stannard interview where he said something like Froome was a little bit boxed in at the wrong moment, bad positioning.

Couldn't make head nor tail of Stannard's interview:confused:

He was a long way behind Froome when Saxo attacked. Looked like bad positioning on Stannard's part to me

So either Froome was unable to follow Stannard after this

Or Stannard is being a tad disingenuous

Both options are really, really bad news for Sky

Unless I've misunderstood both the interview and race situation?

Is there any video at all of the situation just before 1.55 on that video? I think it was shown live at the time and it seemed to show it breaking fairly quickly, with Froome several cyclists behind. I remember thinking he wasnt in a bad position and then he was when it split a few guys in front.

The tv feed was showing the back of the main peloton at the crucial embryonic point, so all we first see is bennati drilling it.

The key phrase in all of that is "you cannot plan for that".

Which is Sky's problem. They try to plan everything.

exactly. which is why sky track program always exceeded in (team)pursuits, teamsprints etc but in points races and scratches it wa smuch harder for them to dominate, in fact they rarely did. cycling is way more diverse than a points race on track. basiclaly you are f'd if your riders can't handle rain, downhils, wind, positioning, tactics(see classics) sky will need colombian riders more than anything as they possess all and what they don't possess is easier to learn (itt) then the other way around

and to have a full picture pls someone explain why BMC saved the mj today. I wonder whAT is sky ds gonna pay for today's phonecalls.

lol you guys have no idfea about how it works. team directors aren't phoning each other during the race. froome in fact asked every team in his group to pls help him. that;'s how it really goes. people here overrate radios and tv's and directors influences so much. the whole saxo coupe was planned by rogers on the fly, riis just sat and watched, yet everywhere I hear riis' masterplan blabla
