The main threat at the moment is Radioshack who are 3rd in the team GC and who have 3 riders in the the escape

There are 3 shacks there. So it's a net gain of about 17 minutes for them as of this point.

So now virtual team GC is an important consideration? Since when?

There are still a few hills to climb and now Radioshack is a threat because they have people in the break? By sheer virtue of Purito and Quintana being where they are on GC, they will race later on and the gap will drop.

Saxo trying to save team GC? Wouldn't protecting 2nd in GC be much better?
many seem to forget the meaning of pro cycling from a managers & team perspective.

They have 2 and 4 and 8.. come on what could they use it for..(the riders can use it, but not partically valued from a teamview)

actually nothing they are here to win, like they did 2008 & 2010 and in 2011 60 % of the saxo team was slaughted by the 2 Danish directors & saxo pr-chief Kim Andersen & Brian Nygaard when the created Leopard and took Scleck, fuglsang and Cancellara and the almost the hole saxo crew to lepard

But everyone seem to forget the point of pro cycling (sponsor time) and sofare STB the team that got most positive sponsor time of all the teams this tour (from taking initiative and breaking froome on flat, and taking the pace against peloton.

so try to look at it from a bigger perspective, its all about positive sponsortime (check some of the sites, that calculate these values) Sky hate all there negative feedback, sky's not here to ejaculate Froome's ego, but to put there sky name out there in a positive manor.

so Again, its about positive sponsortime, not about the win, when you look at it from a team & sponsorperspective.

Saxo got huge feedback and has been the positive-talk of the town this tour, and also why there sponsors these days, are agruing about WHO can get first name next year. (tinkoff tought they should, but saxo now also want more years.. )

so 2 or 4 or 8 aint something to fav partically, a team contest, is better and get on the podium as the best TDF team like they done numerous times before.

so look at it in a bigger perspective if you try to make sense of it from a team-perspective and understand there intention..

Vinorow (Astan mana) point out beautifuly, when he said a couple of days ago ' that he would much more want a stagewin from Fuglsang then Fuglsang in top 5.

// went dp srr.

Not with 7 mins and 3 schack riders who are willing to pull (cos of the team gc). I actually think that now Saxo really wanna win that team GC.

shack rider will be catch closely to 3 min or 2, took a lot to get over 7 minutes.

Feel bad for A.Schleck.. if only he's in good form recovered from injury,, his riding on this years mountain stages would have been so much more exciting challenging froome and company

Ye gap will drop but not enough if the break isnt keept in check. Had saxo not worked they would have 15 mins+ by now. Also doesnt matter that Purito and Quintana closes in when Contador and Kreuziger wont be able to follow them

They are keeping the gap at 10 minutes instead of 20 that Sky would have given

Hopefully Saxo will fail big times together with the peloton today and Navarro will move as deep as possible into the top 10.

nope i don't think so. Purito and quintana still wants to get higher spot. So they'll race on last climb. then they are all will chase down hill.

Given how his year has been this year, I would say he has done well and with better preperation, maybe challenge again next year

Completely agree. If it wasn't for the positive sponsorship aspects, it would be even harder for the "smaller" teams to get sponsors. They love the TV time for their lone rider in a breakway even if he comes up short and doesn't win the stage.

Are we really discussing team classification on the hardest stage in the Tour? Sad :(

I'd love to talk about the race for yellow, but that is the most boring part of the race right now.
