I think after today we can conclude (once again) that Sagan can't climb at all when the climbs are of considerable length ;)

Yet I'm sure that the discussion will come up again later in the season. There are even a lot of guys (mainly on Twitter) who seems to think that he'll win the TDF...yeah, bad climber and a bad TT, that sounds like the perfect combination for winning a GT!

I'm also very surprised by how bad Sky was today. Only 1 guy in the top 40. With their line-up, they should've had at least 6. Perhaps they used up all their climbers on the flat?

Or perhaps all the guys who went to their Mallorca training camp (Froome didn't) are completely burnt out already? I heard that training camp was like riding a GT...Except that it was longer. So far this season, only the guys who didn't go to Mallorca, have done well (G, Froome, Henao).

Once they'd got froome in position at the front on green mt there wasn't much point on riding hard really when they'll have to control tomorrow. Suppose you'd have to ask kerrison or brailsford if they're gassed out

Yes, agreed and one important note Froome has yet to win a major tour, so I think this is all premature, it maybe too early to jump off the Contador bandwagon, he will redeem himself

If it was a hard training camp, logically those guys aren't at their best right now.

Terrible that this isn't shown live. Sounded like a great stage today with attacks from all the main men this season in terms of GT's.

We now have to wait until tomorrow morning for a brief 30 minute show (less with adverts!!)

TA could be epic the way its shaping up.

or perhaps they were told to relax once Froome was delivered. Sky will still need to control the race for two stages.

No, but I was called *** a few times, having predicted such a scenario.

So you changed your position due to forum criticism? Your most recent prediction was that Froome wasn't ready to compete with Contador to which I suggested that he (Froome) may yet surprise you. Anyway sounds like it was a great stage and I can't wait to actually see it!

Early going, but wow, these results bode well for the season.

Purito, Froomey, and Evans all going well. Great for Evans to be going better than last year.

(I think Bertie's admittedly a bit heavy, by his own admission, and starting later this year than usual.)

Exactly. LaFlo, take note. All of the info in bold regarding AC having a later start to the season was stated to the media at the start of the season. We can anticipate a great battle at TA. Contador can't win every race afterall.

I'd thought that Sky would have someone towing Froome up that last climb, like they always did in TdF....

who said jrod is in bad form?
and I hope people stop making conclusions regarding the who will win the tour/giro/vuelta by looking at the results in tour of oman. Its one of the first stage races and no-one has peaked. Some would work that extra bit in order to get a result here because it might give them confidence and it will play a psychological game with their grand tour rivals. Just because froome did better than alberto today doesn't mean that he will do the same in July.

The assumption about Purito's form was derived from his performances on the previous stages where the rest of his rivals made their presence felt. It was fairly reasonable with no quotes available from him regarding his form and his ambitions for Oman. I agree with you for the most part though.

Froome was targeting this race, said he wanted to beat Alberto.....he came prepared.
