Yeah I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder but everyone here should be happy that we no longer have to watch and think "this is not normal"...funny to think that the man who really blew that out of proportions had the same comments about others!
As much as anything else, computers on board of DS cars and two ways radios have contributed to size up the strengh of an attack by feeding information to the chase that tells them most precisely what is happening in front and what they have to do to attempt catching the riders who escaped. There was some epic about some of the attacks of the past because the outcome was not so predictable. I miss that , so of course , when somebody tries, I love it

I had no idea Phinney could mix it up with specialist sprinters like stages 1 and 6 here.Genuinely surprised by that.

He's always had a decent sprint, just look at his results. Third last year in the opening stage of the Eneco-tour.

Let's not pretend that you have found any attacks other than Contador's exciting.
 that's ridiculous. I like many other cyclists and I will cheer for them when they attack. Unless they attack Alberto of course.

After all when he was attacked by Rodriguez and Froome, we know what you posted.
When Alberto gets beaten I will be disappointed in Alberto because I expect him to beat others.

So what was my first response when it turned out Alberto got beaten by JRod Froome and Evans? I think you'll be surprised. I wasn't overjoyed, no, because Alberto didn't win. Not because JRod won.

Is that Contador next to Froome?

"I'll let you have this one"

Sorry this race is over, the first clash of the titans this year!!! Made for an exciting show!! Plus everyone performed well, especially for February.

Chapeau to Froome for his first stage race win. A lad with obvious talent and very well spoken, I like him :) This win will boost his confidence and prepare him to move forward.

Alberto has to settle, uneasy and motivated, he will improve for the next round.

JRod impressive, Evans impressive and back on track. Nibali well I was hoping for more, but he gave all he had, he always does.

Oman rocked!!!

Of course he can, hell he is certainly the top favorite together with Alberto and depending on what happens in the next few races he might even become THE top favorite.

So you've some hope again ;)

These next 2 weeks will be full of speculation. T-A will show us something :D

Cant help but be impressed by Froome, certainly makes me believe a little bit more that he can win yellow in July.

Yeah it's not a result I would have expected after the Vuelta last year, and but perhaps we should have looked more closely at the first week of that Vuelta instead of the last two.

I agree with you.
The quality of this race was very impressive.

BUT: I think you forgot Sagan :)

Although hang on, i'll take it back. do the maths based on the profile

looks about 500 meters long and starts at just about 25 metres to 75 so a difference of 50...

so for arguments sake, 500 metres at 10% but with 3 kilometers thereafter to go.

fast moving peleton will counteract anything but a sprint finish but would Kittel and Argos have sufficient time to get back on?

Predictions?? My Top 5

1. Goss
2. Degenkolb
3. Bouhanni
4. Gallopin
5. Boonen

great finish by Bouhanni, I underestimated the young lad's strength after a tough 6 days. Goss some sort of redemption. Don't know what happened to Gallopin or Degenkolb.

100% agreed!
I mean this is just the Tour of Oman huh? A preparation race right?
Pfff well on the green mountain we watched Nibali, Evans, Purito, Froome and Contador fight eachother for the win. I mean that was just amazing stuff by 3 GT winners and 2 guys that ended 2nd in an GT. Just top notch stuff and was really good to watch.

Than the next day Alberto can't help himself on a hilly stage and decides to attack for the overall win and we get another great show.

Allthough we can't deny that without Alberto the race probably wouldn't have been as spectaculair since the guy just has to attack until he wears a leader jersey. Love the guy!

Froome got his first stage race victory which is shocking considering how good he has been since the Vuelta of 2011. Congrats to him and now let's hope Froome and Contador both have the perfect build up to the TdF and both stay safe in the first week, if so we are going to enjoy a spectaculair TdF. Right now I think Froome has the edge over Contador.
Contador isn't the the same rider he was in 2007 when he could attack and keep on racing up a mountain with an 'extra' gear. Nowadays, looking at the last Vuelta, despite lack of race miles there he isn't able sustain his attack, but he certainly is able to keep on attacking. Anyways, if both stay healthy we are going to watch a spectaculair TdF.

Evans is looking good again as well, allthough I don't think he can compete with Froome and Contador, but he has a shot at the podium again this year. Starts his season a lot better than last year and looking at the last 2 TdF winners, both had good early seasons with stage race wins so I guess being good early season certainly tells us something.

Today ended with a win from Bouhanni, big talent that showed he can handle tough finales as well.

Conclusion, this ToO almost felt like one of the big 1 week stage races of the year. Spectaculair racing.

Alberto's is a bit fat

check his ***

You're right; Alberto's wrong
. Better call him to tell him that he's wrong.

Jan 17 just before Argentina:

My expectations are different from last year because the idea is to fine tune and adjust my weight, since I'm a few kilos over,” he said. “But that’s a normal thing right now. It's true that I like to go for it if I have possibilities, I can hardly stop myself if I have good legs. But I'm over my weight and there’s mathematics [power to weight]. There are riders who are better than me to fight for victory.

Can't find the link again, but yesterday in Oman he said he was 2.5 kgs over racing weight.

Did you see the sky in the picture? It's not actually blue. It's partly blue. So let's say it's not blue, okay?
