Vandenbroeck says that Contador fell because Contador tried to sprint past the peloton when they were going easy downhill, then Contador went into a ditch and crashed. Vandenbroeck said it was a dumb move by Contador and it wasn't really a moment to move up. The peloton was going at easy pace after all.

Wait what? Are you sure he wasn't talking about Froome, the worst bike handler in the history of the sport?

VDB2 just said in sporza post race interview that contador came flying by him out of the saddle in the descent while he was in ~15th spot. He hit a big pothole and went flying. Jurgen said he was taking unnecesary risks.

Jurgen Van den Broeck: "It was Contador's own fault. He stepped on the pedals to overtake and rode in a hole." #TDF (on Sporza) !!!

Contador has always been someone willing to take risks in the descent. If he happened to hit a pothole going 70kph while out of the saddle it's no surprise that caused a massive crash.

VDB2 says Contador took risks for no reason in the descent. 100% his own fault.

maybe an surprised attack to NIbali, but unfortunately he did not have the bike skill

On a MTF where both Contador and Froome weren't present

Come on, of course it isn't quitw like that but you have to agree that Contador would have had a hard time dropping him today. And Nibali has panache.

So I think today shows that the forum members are so one eyed that their opinions are often clueless

Remember, most people before the Tour started questioned if Nibali could beat Valverde for third. Even today it seemed like half the forum thought that Porte would outclimb him

I was one of them.

We're nowhere near Paris yet, so, Nibali has some hard tests coming up in the next two weeks.

I see a lot of sore losers... why detract from Nibali success? It's not his fault if others crash out...

Sure with Contador / Froome distanced a bit was going to be a very interesting race, but that's cycling guys
