Where else are they going to spend their efforts for the rest of the race? They have a bunch of 70+ kg riders and Slaghter. Tomorrow and the next day are not stages they have any shot at either.

One (or more) of the big flat guys will go after stage 19 I'm sure. But I don't know if their efforts today really cause any problem with that.

And that's it.

Again... very little chance of success, but worth working a little to put Slaghter in the break rather then just let him ride with the peloton and do nothing the rest of the Tour.
