Notice their cadence is matched at about 108rpm, then just as Kittel catches Kristoff, he bumps his up to about 120rpm for just those last six or seven turns of the pedals.

Kristoff had some bad luck in the last 30k IIRC. He punctured at about 30k, but perhaps the worst was Paolini puncturing with I think something like 8k to go. He managed to get up and place him a little at the end though.

Those two things not happening might make things different, but Kristoff is more of a one speed guy, while Kittel has an afterburner!

They were both on my manager team, so a 1-2 ain't bad.
