Thank god we have riders like Hesjedal and Contador in the race rather than some of the accountants and scientists I have read on this forum.
Both these two showed panache and balls today. Hesjedal is continuing what he has been doing for the past 10 stages...trying to animate the race, move up on GC and RACE. Contador is trying to build a legacy as one of the all time greats. Today and yesterday, in fact the last 3 weeks have helped him do that.
If you feel good, then go for it. Alberto didn't have much to lose in the context of the Giro. I highly doubt some of the people on here commenting about the impact on Le Tour know as much about recovery, Alberto's wellbeing, his output versus his maximum threshold as the rider himself.
Somebody above noted, correctly, that this Giro will suffer for the fact that the GC has been decided for the past week. But the racing has been brilliant.

If he was stronger than Contador today, then he was logically the strongest of everyone today. Does it really matter? Landa didn't have it today, and that's what counts in GCTaxus4a said:

Landa looked good today actually. Obviously wasn't going to push the pace when Aru was struggling just to try and catch Contador. If he'd done that Aru would've been off the podium today. Good team player.

now it's settled. The strongest rider in this race is.. AC. period. Landa wanda anaconda.. can just sit back and enjoyed his luck. By the way.. Karma is a ***. Payback is so sweet. Now let the minions to fight it out the 2/3 places. Today is another epic ride by AC and the TS team.

Ryder is not stronger than AC but I think at this point in the race he is stronger than some of the guys sitting between him and AC on the GC.
