Yeah, could have launched like Oss did after Cipressa. What I really don't get is how far he was down when the sprint started. WTF. If he had started his sprint in Bonifazio's or Kristoff's wheel, he should've beaten Degenkolb like he did in '12.

I'm not sure what you guys are complaining about.

I don't know what Thomas was trying to accomplish, but the field, wisely, just left him out there to die. The fact Thomas held on, stupidly, for so long was most of the reason why there was a tough tempo, but no fireworks in the final test.

Also, you had contenders crashing on the descent, so no one was soft-pedaling the descent.

It was a good race until the Poggio. Plenty of action on the Cipressa and the bit between the Cipressa and the Poggio.

But almost no action on the Poggio killed it.

We were all waiting Gibert and Kwiatkowski distance the others on the decent. Instead saw a crash.
Hope they are okay
Already lost Boonen in the classics, Gerrans is an unknown

probably strong headwind. it's not like paolini's pace was tremendous

I think he did not attack after Poggio also because he saw two teammates coming from behind, who, strangely enough, did nothing to help me at the end.

Were all riders at the end of their forces or what happened? Lotto Soudal (Roelandts, Wellens, Gallopin) & Tinkoff-Saxo (Sagan & at least one other rider), Lapre (Cimolai & Bonifazio) were all teasm who could have set up a little train, instead chaos...

Rui Costa was the Lampre taken down by the Sky. According to his girlfriend, he did not break anything, but has some nasty bruises and burn marks. I know crashes happen to everybody, and most of the times it's a matter of luck, or lack of it, but Sky take it to a whole other level of frequency. It's not just chance.

Happy for Degenkolb hed clearly shown a talent for this and his sprinting tends to be best when its a testing day, did have some slight doubts, kristoff fought well probably needed more help as he hit front early to sprint

So Glad John got the win today as he's deserved a big one. Such a shame Gilbert, Kwia and Ciolek crashed out. Beast rides by Poalini and Thomas. The crashes are indicative of how hard the day was. BMC also deserve some credit for trying lots of times. I really enjoyed today's edition.

Poggio was a letdown but the race was on from Capo Berta and especially Cipressa was very good. Poggio descent was also dry which was a pity.

Glad that big John won in the end if not Greg or Sagan.

Thomas reacted almost immediately though, looked back and saw Swift in 3rd or 4th wheel and then went full gas. So best choice was to wait for the sprint.

Grats big John, good sprint, allthough Kristoff almost did it again starting the sprint himself and holding everyone back, except Degenkolb.

Props to Thomas who almost reached the top of the Poggio alone. Bmc tried, but the Poggio just like last year was crap. They all wait for the last 500mtr...no *** nobody is able to get a gap.

Also Sagan should've went all out at the bottom of the poggio, but he didn't have the balls. Allready under a big deal of pressure :/

Good showing by Degenkolb & Kristoff. Sky did pretty well with forcing on the Cipressa so much that most sprinters were dropped. But on Poggio nothing. What happened to other teams? I was expecting blistering forcing or attacks. If any other riders goes against the top sprinters like Kristoff, Degenkolb all they are going to do is lose
