CJJ better not move to Sky
Well I'm not sure. Its' just a rumor I've heard a few times. Same with the Porte to BMC and Van den Broeck to Orica. Sometimes rumors become the narrative.

Why are you talking about it as if it's been confirmed? I've just seen 1 guy mention it, it all seems to come from him

I was responding to someone who was saying he had signed for Sky, about what that move would mean. I have no idea if he actually has signed with anyone or not. Sky is the last team I'd like to see him sign for.

Irish ITT

Ryan Mullen

Irish nationals are getting like the Lord of Flies these days, a barbarous place inhabited only by savage children.

Last year there was some controversy when 19 year old Ryan Mullen set a faster time than the elite champion but was only eligible for the u23 TT title. He made up for it by also winning the Road Race event, in which for some reason he was eligible for both the u23 and elite title. In the year since, Cycling Ireland fixed the anomaly and now u23 riders are also eligible for the elite TT championship.

Cue this year, a now 20 year old Mullen finishes first, followed by 18 year old freak of nature Eddie Dunbar in second. At least the emergence of Dunbar means that Mullen might have some competition in what was otherwise shaping up to be a fifteen year reign of terror.

Arf!

Just got round to watching The Velethon Wales. Dunbar looks insanely talented

Within his first couple of races as a newly minted 18 year old on the British scene it was clear that he is already one of the half dozen strongest riders on the domestic circuit. I hadn't realised that he could TT this well though - it's his climbing that gets all of the attention. That said, when it comes to kids that young, it's impossible to tell if someone is a great in the waiting or just an exceptionally early developer. He will definitely be good enough to have a decent pro career - he's near enough that level already. But beyond that, who knows.

NFTO are supposed to be going ProConti next season. They apparently already have the sponsorship in place. I suspect that signing up Dunbar to a two year neopro contract will be their first order of business. When their new big sponsor was announced, the two riders featured in the publicity shots were Steele Von Hoff and Dunbar.

I think a major factor is they know they can't beat Dowsett. They would rather rest up for the road race. The top three in the U23 TT on the other hand were separated by 18 seconds (Davies, Doull and Geoghegan Hart).

Yep. Only British rider who has a chance of beating Dowsett is Wiggins, so why bother spending the energy if you have other races coming up.
Agreed.

IMO Dowsett is a strong outside chance for the first yellow jersey at the Tour this year. When you look at how Brandle and Dennis have gone this year, it seems that training for the Hour seems to put you in good stead for the coming season. IIRC Boardman had a similar experience as well.

If he even rides this years Tour. He says there is only a 50% chance he'll participate.

Dowsett should ride. He's a good rouleur, probably Movistar's best and if Unzue is serious about Quintana winning he'll need a couple of good rouleurs.

Quote from Tinkoff-Saxo about Chris Juul's win:

Despite a tough and hilly parcours, strong competitors, a puncture and a bike change, Chris Juul-Jensen raced to perfection and was crowned Danish TT Champion!

No point in having it too easy!

Tony Martin wont do the road race to fully focus on the opening time trial in utrecht.

He had really good chances of winning the road race. Damn

EBH, Jungels and Juul all had puncture during their winning rides

Why are they riding the same the ITT? Does it mean that Sagan wins the Slovakian one or is there only one overall winner?

It means that Sagan is Slovakian ITT champ, and Barta is Czech ITT champ. They use the same parcours, because base of riders is not big enough in Slovakia, nor Czech republic.

So the Russian, German, Austrian (?) and Spanish TT today?

I'd love to see the Spanish TT live online. Is that possible?

Alright, Dragontearz.

It seems like Sagan has turned into a great time trialist. Even in the long ones. He was almost faster than Barta.

So... the Czech is:
1. Barta
2. König
3. Vakoc

Slovak is:
1. Sagan
2. Kovac
3. Tybor

LoL at that picture up there! :D
But of course it's possible (if not very likely) that the winner of one of the championships finish rather far down in the race as a whole.

I agree. Sagan really smashed it. He must be feeling great, and I would be suprised if he doesnt win at least 2 stages at Tour.

(I have no clue who any of those other riders are, so I can't tell if they're Czech or Slovak...)

Just look at the Lance Armstrong post. Riders from Czech Republic have CZE in their starting numbers, and riders from Slovakia have SVK. So basically, in first 11 riders we have 8 czechs, and 3 slovaks.
