Such a shame this is the only ITT.. They shoud have made this a 15 km TTT, and then the stage 9 as a ITT.

Purito in buttom 20?

Any of the GC guys who are worse than him in a TT?

(And don't give me that he almost won a TT, the one in Pais Vasco was tailor made for him)
Ever since Katusha changed from Focus to the new Canyon TT bikes, Purito has improved greatly in the TT.

He's still not strong, but it's no longer comically bad like it used to be.

No way, then the only stages important to GC will be uphill. You need some variation in what will decide the overall or you just end up with a higher profile Vuelta with only 20-30 minutes of climbing being important to the stage.

Dumoulin or Cancellara for the stage.

I expect a good ride from Cav, Sagan and Kristoff. Riding a good ITT means the (small) chance of yellow for one day.

malori starts his monstrous reign.
I hope so, could be a little bit too technical for him, but after doing pretty well in the hard TdS ITT he seems to be n great shape.

It doesn't look very technical to me. Not enough to cause difficulties for Martin, Malori etc

that would be the worst decision ever

That would be the normal route form a Tour... or even another ITT at the end, but I prefer just the first.

This year with such a difficult first week I can understand, but it is very little ITT.

With more ITT must be more hard mountains stages...At least an stage like this:

PROFIL-21.gif

Long, at hight altitude, with hard climbs, at the end of the race...

this year there are no similar stages.

So... It's impossible for anyone to beat Sagan. Even if he has a flat, he should win with a comfortable margin.

Best ever place Sagan can get with a 100% race is 5th. There will be a gap after Martin, Cancellara, Dumoulin and Malori.. Over 30 second gap i bet between 4th and 5th. 5-15 is open.
I think one of those guys is going to win the stage, but Froome will do a better ITT than some of those guys, maybe Cancellara...

Of course wont be that 30 second gap...in 30 seconds will be the first 50 riders of the stage, and in 1 minute 120 or more. that doenst mean Tony Martin could put one minute to some climbers with options in GC, and Froome close to that, and 1 inute is much time on the mountains.

Do you seriously mean that???

Yes, I didnt say Froome is more favourite than Cancellara to be better in this ITT. I said what I said.

I also think that the lack of really difficult stages is the biggest problem of this tour, but to be honest we didnt have such a monster stage since 2011. The only stages comparable to that one (in reference to altitude, length and intensity of the stage) were the "Bagneres de Luchon stage" 2012 and maybe also the "Le grand Bornand stage" 2013

Surely stages like this just encourage the unmentionable?

Yes, 100m runners are hurting from head to toe after 2.5 weeks of racing and are put in a tough situation just to get through the 10 seconds.... ;)

Temperatures up to 41 degrees have been predicted for this Saturday. Which country is the Tour starting again?

Anyway, was planning on going, but sure as hell not gonna go there now, standing in a huge crowd for hours while it's gonna be 50+ degrees in the sun
