Well, more than two riders outside the Dauphine team are required in team Sky:

So looks like it's Froome, Porte, Roche, Poels, Kennaugh and Thomas as certs then between Henao, konig, Kiri, Nieve, Rowe and Stannard for the final 3 spots.

I'd take Rowe and Yogi as the flat engines and the final spot will be either Henao or Konig.
henao is also certain.

Source? Unless it's direct from Brailsford, it's not certain.

I agree that Froome, Porte, Roche, Poels, Kennaugh and Thomas are as good as there, given form, ability and race programmes.

Of the others, you'd definitely want another rouleur/cobbles/TTT man. On current and recent form, that will surely be Rowe.

Realistically also, to balance the team, another rouleur is likely. Stannard enamoured himself to Froome and proved himself yesterday. Close to a cert too.

Of the rest, Konig is consistent, versatile and capable, Kiri and Nieve are top notch doms, and there's Deignan, who hasn't been mentioned yet, but is riding brilliantly. There's Knees too, who's a tremendous all-round dom, but he and Froome haven't ridden together for yonks. And, finally, Henao. Probably the best climber of that lot, if he's on form, but he's yet to show he's back on top form and doesn't have a track record of being a loyal helper to Froome. He might be the most likely of that lot, but, especially considering Sky's surprises in choosing last year's team, I wouldn't hold too much stock in what Henao's told a Colombian journalist.

henao would do the tour last year. now he was promised it this year. you can believe what you want. it was the reason he signed extra contract with sky

According to the cycling podcast Basso was 'ruined' by all the training and altitude work earlier in the year ....looks like it scuppered Majka as well and he is just starting to come good...there was no doubt that TCS looked tired at the Giro...maybe they have rested and are over that hump

As for SKY selection I would say Konig would prefer to ride the Vuelta as he doesn't strike me as he is overly interested in being a dom...haven't seen him ride on the train with Froome yet

SKY need dependent stalwart type doms ...not just the best climbers ...because with Porte , Thomas , Poles, Roche,Kennaugh & Stannnard that train will be fine ...However they need guys for the long stages and ones who can survive well for the last week

Kiriyenka & Deignan for me

Sky will be Froome, Porte, Henao, Poels, Thomas, Kennaugh, Roche, Rowe, Stannard

Train in that order too.

Henao did quite well yesterday

I think Nieve and Konig legs will be saved for the Vuelta.

Rowe-Stan-Thomas to take care of the cobbles (that should mean Knees won't ride)

Updated AG2R

Pretty surpricing that Jan Bakelants is not amongst the 7 safe riders given his good form in Tour De Suisse, but I assume he will get the 8. spot and Samuel Dumoulin probably the 9 if they dont think he will spoil the TTT too much. That would mean no Riblon and Kadri, but they really havent earned a spot either.
