New amendment to the Extreme Laziness Protocol:

"Race officials may decide to shorten or cancel a stage after an arbitrary number of days with bad weather decided by Fabian Cancellara."
Indeed. *** off already Fabian. I remember when he cried about the Paris Roubaix stage in the Tour, im sure he tried everything he could to cancel that as well.

Ok, it looks like there actually was some snowfall on the Albula, to me it still looks ok and the road seems to be fine, but at least the stage wasn't just neutralized because of bad weather, it was snowing on the descent.

As far as I understood the tweet, the picture is of Flüela

And it was taken quite early in the day

This is actually quite interesting. Flüelapass is higher than the albulapass still they will ride it and only cancel the part on the lower altitude. So if no pass is rideable cancel the whole stage but if they can ride one of the passes why can't they also ride the 2nd one.

Ok, that would explain the race organizers statement that the stage wasn't shortened because of snowfall but just "out of respect for the riders".
If you don't have enough time to remove the snow on the first descent and the weather is expected to improve later on then it's fine, it sucks but it's totally reasonable and you can't change the weather, but just doing it because some riders or teams threw a fit is just bs.

Terrible weather I see. Totally right decision to shorten the stage.

Weather forecast was bad, eh. And there was nobody on the Albulapass to check the actual weather.

Very expected. The EWP is total ****** and needs to be removed ASAP. What a pile of trash..

It's not the policy that's the problem but more the way it's been implemented in a haphazard way, I think cycling needs a EWP but it needs to be more clearly defined so we don't have such poor interpretation of what the rules are.
