Did the Eurosports commentators say anything that wasn't sarcastic or snarky? Really unprofessional, hopefully not stuck with them.
Perhaps Sean and Carlton feel that the USA is not worthy of International Professional Cycling.

LOL, who the hell cares about this race? It's meaningless. I bet every stage is rigged.
I've got the same suspicion when it comes to some of those Aussie crits. :D
The American teams and those who have a rider who's a big star in the USA (Tinkoff with Sagan) care about this race, but the rest just seems to be here because of the nice weather.
Still, the MTF and the Laguna Seca stage should be fun to watch, I'll probably stay up to watch the finish of those 2 stages.

California
the most technological place in the world
- can't keep the right time?
- can't show the sprint for 3rd?

Go figure: a Garmin win

Also, why is the picture so bad every year? Are they using 10 yr old equipment?

Maybe your TV or your computer is 10 years old because even the tourtracker stream is in HD ... unless you still use a dial-up for your internet :D

No kidding. The picture is fabulous if you're watching the tour tracker

That's Brian Smith.

I spoke to one of the directeur sportifs at the finish line in SD yesterday - he seemed not to care about the race at all... to the point that he probably would not care to tell his riders about a two-man breakaway

That's not exactly new.

It's the Tour of California. No WT team cares about this race, they're here to fulfill sponsor obligations.
In Katusha's case, Canyon wants them here.

You are correct. At the same time, unlike TDU, this is not a mandatory race and it is the team's choice to participate.

They're "professionals" and ride where they're told to ride. Sponsors pay the bills now that the sport cash is dominated by bike manufacturers, just like most races. It's a good showcase of young North, South, Central American talent and spoiled Continentals...almost everyone likes the weather and the vibe that rides it.

Don't understand all this slagging off of the North American races. Even Utah does not avoid it these days. Best part is to see the U.S folks on the forefront of all criticism. Give it a break. :p

Utah is a great race, by far the best of the big American races.
I don't mind the route of the ToC, it's an improvement, but they aren't exactly known to use the terrain that they have properly. And don't get me started on the USA pro challenge, Colorado has so much potential and yet they failed to use it properly.
I have nothing against the American races, but when a race like the ToC that the organizers see as a big deal and compare it to a 4th gt has pretty amateurish camera work it's kinda funny.

Yes, it's kinda funny. Lot's of small races get pretty hyped though.

I understand they don't, but that happens in most races. 90% of routes in European races could also be improved. It just seems that people are quick and eager to jump on the U.S hate-bandwagon for various reasons. I understand how ATOC can be seen as pretencious or undeserving of much attention, but I get the feeling people see NA as some sort of poser in the cycling world, unaware or ignoring the fact that the sport also has rather deep roots there and, as far as I'm concerned, a larger interest than where I live. I've been laughed at because of this but I don't care and will repeat it.

PS: I've seen your designs for these races and really liked them. :)

Kennaugh and Coquard crash.
@BigMac: Thanks, I just think that California and Colorado have so much potential, you could create awesome stage races in those states.

King dropped early. I expected him to hang onto for longer. He was 17th overall last year despite working for Dombrowski.

Let's see how the Conti pros like some of the descents on Stage 7...King's Ridge, Meyer's Grade. I've been to E'rp and these are as gnarly as they come.

Talansky not dropped like a stone on a climb first time since Tour de San Luis.

Powless impressive. I smell a WT transfer within 2 years.
